Is anyone aware of a G45 MOS airsoft or BB platform? Trying to find something I can train with in my duty holster. Seems Umarex has a G45 clone but it does not appear to have the RDS mounting plate.

I used to carry a G22 40 cal on duty and never got around to acquiring a pellet model for training. Might just see if there is a G21 airgun clone as I hunt part time with a 45 super w/9” barrel. It would allow training and maintaining some fine motor skills in gun handling. I shot thousands of rounds of 45 though as a sometimes IDPA shooter. It got quite expensive. The corollary would have been training with a CO2 1911. Didn't get there though, missed again. The guys at work thought I was a great shot but I didn't think so. It was fun putting the loudmouths to shame on the range though. Be Well Brothers.

Dry firing, almost as good as live fire helped me a lot. Before we went to blocks for duty the S&W 686 in different barrel lengths was our choice. Going to the range, one of the loudmouths talked a good game. We got there and did our six round warmup, a freebie. The mouth leaned over and said look at my target. Then he looked at mine and his head drooped. Then he started bragging about my target. He just never stopped. But it was fun to shoot a small group, all holes touching. But most anyone, with careful shooting could do it. We were at 7 or 15 yards!¡! I guess it was to get the nonshooters some confidence. I was just using single action in a smooth old gun that already shot a few thousand rounds. I hand picked it before we started. Still should have been practicing with a CO2 gun. It would have helped. I've got both the Gen4 and the Gen5 Glocks. Overall I prefer the Gen4. It's just more realistic. The Gen5 is really just a double action revolver that uses a belt rather than a cylinder and the trigger on it is horrible. It's got a very long trigger pull like you would find on a double action revolver. It is more accurate however, it fires pellets, and the trigger does get much better the more you use it. The Gen4 functions more like an actual glock and the trigger is similar to a Glock. You rack or release the slide to ready the first shot and the action stays open when the magazine is empty. The Gen4 also delivers much more consistent power than the Gen5. On the Gen5 the first shot really barks and the recoil is very noticeable, then with every subsequent shot it is noticeably less powerful. On the Gen4 the power stays pretty constant until the CO2 starts to run down.
As far as mounting optics goes, I don't think you have any choice but to modify the slide. Nobody makes an MOS version that I am aware of.

In my opinion airsoft replica pistols are much better training aides than the BB/pellet counterparts. Their full blowback action and realistic takedown just like the real thing give them a real edge, along with realistic magazine ammo counts.

Thanks very much for this reply. I am not set on pellet/bb at all. I am really looking for something that I can go from holster to target and 5y and in, really just to train the brain for the RDS my agency uses. I think airsoft would be fine for that. The Gen4 is full blowback and tears down just like the real thing. It holds a few more BBs than the real thing would hold cartridges, but that’s not actually a problem. All you need to do is just load a few less if you want it to match the capacity.In my opinion airsoft replica pistols are much better training aides than the BB/pellet counterparts. Having the MOS setup is a genuine advantage for airsoft however.
