Pat was gracious enough to write the match report:
Good old boys – September 2015 match Beautiful weather in Tennessee this Saturday. A little humid, but nothing like last weekend. Clear with a very light wind and no rain. We had 10 shooters come out with 2 in the Hunter class, 2 in the WFTF class and 6 in PCP. Danny Ayers tied with Charles Garvey for top shooter overall with scores of 55/60. Danny had to leave early, so no shoot off. Danny started on Lane #1 and proceeded to clear the first 6 lanes. Then a 3/6 and a 4/6 and two more 6’s. Charles just missed on 5 lanes with 5 points on each. Charles Garvey was top shooter in Hunter class with 55/60 using his FWB Custom, an Aeon scope at 12X and, I believe CPH pellets. Jeff Hale was second in the Hunter class with a score of 38/60 with an HM1000, Aeon 32-50 and AA 10.3 pellets. Danny Ayers was top shooter in the PCP class with a score of 55/60 using a TM1000, Sightron 10-50 scope and AA 10.3 pellets. Dottie Slade came out of mothballs and stumbled a little on lane #5 and got 4/6 and then split the kneeling lane. Until then, she was shooting a possible 58/60. She finished second in the PCP class with a score of 52/60 using a TM1000, BSA 10-50 scope and JSB 10.3 pellets. Jim Baumann had a score of 51/60 with a TM1000, Sightron 10-50 scope and AA 10.3 pellets. Except for a 2 on the kneeling lane, Jim would have been right up there amongst them. Sandra Rutterford and Roz Sumpter tied with scores of 50/60. Sandra used her TM1000, Aeon 10-50 scope and AA 10.3 pellets. Roz was also using a TM1000, Aeon 10-50 scope and AA 10.3 pellets.
Once again, I brought up the rear in the PCP class with a score of 42/60 with yet another TM1000, Nikko 10-50 scope and JSB 8.4 pellets. I did correct my canting problem though and fill much better about that. I only had two bad lanes and one was the kneeling lane and I totally lost it on the next to last lane with a 2/6. I just played out from the heat and shooting the course. Not much I can do about that. The kneeling lane was 1/6. One day, maybe. David Slade was first in the WFTF class with a score of 42/60 (Sounds familiar) I still have not beaten him in a match. David always does just enough or sometimes a little bit more. Depends on whether he has his scope on the rifle or setup properly. David used a beautiful FWB P70FT, B & L 6-24 scope and JSB 8.4 pellets. Cliff Smith was second in the WFTF class with a TM1000, Aeon 8-32 scope and AA 8.4 pellets. We will not be shooting at Roz’s Hollow next week due to several going to the Texas match. The next scheduled match in the area will be at the Invicta course at Minor Hill, TN. the 4th Saturday of the month. Don’t forget the Nationals at the Tar Heel Club are just around the corner in North Carolina on October 9-11, 2015 and then the Tennesssee state match will be at Minor Hill on November 7, 2015. Hope to see you Friday in the great State of Texas, Pat
I wasn't able to shoot other than my camera so I'll just add a few pictures.
Cliff figured out how to make the factory side wheel much more useful on a budget
Folks on the sight in range
Antique airguns shoot every bit as well as the latest greatest:
First time I have seen this model pony bottle in person and it worked just fine
Charles with his HFT rig
Firemarshall shooting his TM1000
Cliff using a TM1000
Lane 5 (?) picture taken at 10x optic + 14x digital so no idea of actual magnification
David using his antique P70
Dottie using what I think is about the 1st TM1000 made
Jeff with his hunting ( 17 shot clip) and FT rig, HM1000 .177
Charles using his uber custom HFT rig ( he has an outstanding MFR for sale at a steal price if anyone is interested)
Danny with his TM1000
A very good looking stock
Roz ( our gracious Host and Range Master) using his BM500
Danny has just added the 3d printed butt hook
Sandra of Rapid Air Weapons with her TM1000
Jim not using his Marauder or MFR for a change, TM1000
Shows the intense level of stress and anxiety of Field Target at The Playground of Champion's.
Danny displaying proper Kneeling position
Love to see some new folks come on out for a shoot, only $10.00 including lunch, maybe firing others rifles, checking out scopes & such before you spend your hard earned money and more air gun knowledge in a day than in a year of reading, all with THE nicest people you could ever hope to meet.
