Going LONG with the D Wolf …my first group to check zero @ 275 No silver dollar! But very close

I have not had the big gun out and gone long since late last winter. It was zero outside yesterday , and it was time to get things rolling.

I grabbed my 25D wolf, and a box of slugs. And got ready to do a lot of walking in the cold.

First trip out was just plain cardboard backing. I set it up at 200 and 275. Just big huge sheets of thick cardboard a friend of mine gave me when he was doing some construction on his house this summer.

Before walking out to put some targets on the cardboard I decided to check zero since I had great big clean boards. I looked in my dope book and saw that I had last shot at 275. 40 clicks down from the top. I figured I might as well shoot three shots just to see where it was hitting, before I walked out to put some paper targets on. Frankly, I was planning to shoot at 200 anyway. I really just wanted to verify that the rifle was functioning…

Below is the three shot group at 275. First three shots cold barrel. I was using a little stick that was pointing up as my aim point. I knew the slug would fire right over it.

I love it when this kind of stuff happens, good omens for sure. Obviously a little bit of luck. I’m OK with that.

Then I shot the group below offhand at 200 right at dusk. I was just zeroing in at that point.

I’m going to try shooting at 200 yards from the Field Target position today. We’ll see how that goes.

Love this rifle.
