What are some of the best .22/ .25 pellets to take down iguanas?
It all depends on the power output of the airgun, and what it can shoot accurately. In these calibers I like something pushing 35-50 fpe.

I like Hades pellets, but most times I'm shooting FX Hybrid Slugs, as they expand fast and minimize pass through. That is very advantageous around residential locations.

I'm up in the air on picking up an .25 AEA sf compact. Reviews are 50/50 either its amazing or its garbage.

You can use any pellets, you just have to be precise. You have to switch their brain off, so shots from back of the head or behind the eye. On 2 foot long iguanas, that's about a .25" or smaller size spot that you need to hit. You could alway go for vitals, but unless you're using .25 or .30 they usually book it 10-30yds depeding on the size.

Would using H&N hornets or harder pellets that have more penetration power
AEA produces more trash than treasure, you've been warned.
Seems like that's the sentiment for most

Here's the thing, with most pellets doing head shot are gonna be a passthrough. Even with body shots, using something like an H&N hornet would simply zip right through. I wouldnt use a hornet unless I was shooting .177. Again as long you're dead nits accurate it doesn't matter which pellet you use, all that matters is what's beyond the iguana.

That's a good point, I wouldn't be to worried about pass through but definitely misses and what my backstop is like

Normally iguana removal for us involves being around homes along, so guns with different power options are a must. But when we take people hunting, and I only speak for me and my other partner who do hunts, we take you on golf courses or around canal where you couldn't accidentally shoot anything or anyone else.

And I mention pass throughs being an issue, cause I have shot iguanas at 45 yards, performed an eye shot, and watched the pellet land about 50yds beyond the iguana into the canal and proceeded to watch it skip for another 100yds. And that was with 16gr AA at about 930fps.

Jesus that wild, I guess I'm not even in that realm of power yet. I'm only shooting .22 redfires out of a gamo fusion, so probably 750ish fps

Thanks for the info! As I would be coming from tx and going to fl what would be the rules for hunting iguana in the neighborhood with a airgun?
Take a look at the Florida Wildlife Commissionn FWC website, tells you all about hunting rules here. There's some info on airgun hunting there. Also google Florida Statues and or local ordnances for the county you'll be in because some locals have rules about airgun use.

As others have mentioned, 100% whatever you can hit with. I have recently switched from hades in .25 to barracuda hunters (not the extremes). Shooting 895 fps, the barracudas do a great job flipping that brain switch and not over penetrating (As JaceSpace pointed out, this excludes eye shots). With the smaller guys I go vitals.
All you gotta do is cook up the legs like wings, and have her believe it's chicken wings. She'll be asking for you to make the wings each time 😂
:) You are a braver man than me! Have you been seeing an increase in calls for iguanas on roofs with this cold weather?

Increase in calls? No, I wish. Half the time it's not worth out for them. It's not cold enough for them to fall out and it's not warm enough for them to be out and about unless it sunny 😒. So unless I have to do my scheduled miami visits, or 72+ degrees I am not going out for them. And nice, I've managed to nail them with everything I shoot. My lowest fpe was a 10.34gr hades in .177 at just 9.3fpe or 670fps at 30yds at a 2ft long iguana. That was months ago using an fx streamline, recently I've been hsing my leshiy classic in .22 shooting 18.13gr fx pellets at about 730fps and nailed them from under a foot long to nearly 5ft long and all the way to 50yds.

Yeah, we have only had one night dip into the 40's and none falling out of trees. Big increase in calls for iguanas on roofs though trying to sap up the heat from the metal and clay roofs. It is just the iguanas that people are finally noticing. Sadly our area is nowhere near as populated as yours and the east coast. How do you like the leshiy classic? I used a leshiy 2 for a little and loved certain aspects of it, but have moved back to the Ghost for most work and an Atomic XR for the close stuff.

Would be interesting to get your take on why you went back to the Ghost and Atomic XR. It’s no secret I love my little Atomic XR…
