Please don’t shoot at them. I watched a pellet come back after a fellow shooter HAD to put one out at 50 yards. He was shooting a magnum powered break barrel .22. His bench was a good 20 feet away from me. We both lucked out that day.

Correct.... Dangerous... hung one dangling on a screw and wire 35 yards away- came back an smacked the wall behind us hard...

I used to have one that I drilled a hole through and hung on a string. I thought it made a pretty good target at the time, but you make a good point about the ricochet hazard.

There are plenty of shooters who say "I've never had an issue". This is not a case where that logic is valid. It's not an issue until it is.
I've actually had a pellet hit me after striking a field target 12 yards out. It didn't hit hard but it was a real wake-up call.

It’s never a good idea to shoot at golf balls with an airgun. I learned, as did the OP, that those pellets come back with a ferocity you would never expect.

Or at least those up in dust gag golf balls, or if he is a ace shooter a bag of paintballs which should be doable at fiddy yards
I actually contemplated doing the same but agreed with myself that 1. The lead might bounce back or 2 the golf ball will get chewed up pretty fast.
So dropped that idea like it was hot.

Just stumbled across these “foam practice” golf balls which work out to be 25 cents each and I would imagine they could be reused for multiple shots

Fun and cheap to shoot, water beads! Amazon has them, just soak and the longer you soak them the larger they get, max size is marble size., nine bucks.

While I’m not keen on blasting perfectly yummy food, I bet those cheese puff balls would be fun. Maybe look for expired ones (if they can even expire!)
