I'm building my own .22 (5.5mm) PCP with 20-24inch (500-600mm) barrel and trying to come up with most efficient setup.
So by valve's gonna be traditional valve, not balanced of any sort. shooting 27gr slug, at around 950-970fps out of 600mm barrel (might be lower for 500mm), and running around 135-140bar for regulator.
My question is, what should be the most efficient setup?
1. Throat diameter, proppet diameter (I learnt that proppet should be 2mm larger than throat in diameter, I use peek).
2. Valve steam diameter 2 or 2.5 or 3mm for better efficiency?
3. Hammer weight and travel? I have my impact M3 hammer at 24gram, 20-22mm travel, huma spring and had great success with 960fps 27gr out of 600mm barrel but since M3 valve is some sort of balance valve, I don't know if that hammer weight could be applicable for a traditional design. Have around 58 shots, 230bar fill out of 500cc tank at 135bar reg pressure of my M3.
4. Does valve seat shape in figure A & B play a role in efficiency or open force, hence lighter or heavier hammer weight?
5. What's better, a heavier hammer or heavier spring?
For give me for my ignorance but I'm willing to learn and this forum is the best place! Scouted some of the posts around hear but haven't found one that suits my particular setup.
Best
