Goodbye Avenger trigger shoe

My .22 Avenger is an extremely accurate rifle, way beyond its price point suggests. The stock trigger leaves a lot to be desired though. I’ve already modded it by changing both springs to lighter ones and polished all of the engagement surfaces. One thing that has always bugged me was the shape of the semi circular trigger shoe so today I got my hacksaw out and got busy.

Next I drilled and tapped a hole behind the old trigger. This provided a slight lever advantage by moving the leverage closer to the sear which improved the feel of the pull. Then I treaded a FX Trigger bar post into the hole and mounted a FX trigger shoe.

Finally I put the action back into my one-off walnut stock. It’s certainly NOT a RAW trigger but I’m pleased with the improved feel and reduced pull.

I’m currently selling my Avenger. The trigger is one of the main reasons.
I find it completely unacceptable. The trigger on my Crown is worlds better and to be honest I don’t think it’s all that great.
I’m not sure when I became a trigger snob but I do find a bad one can ruin a gun for me.

Thank you for your post. I have been struggling with the Avengers curved trigger for 2 years. Time to fix it! Do you remember where you purchased your parts and approximate costs?

I purchased all the parts direct from FX USA. I think the trigger shoe and post were well under $50 but I can't remember for sure. I am thinking about $35 perhaps??? You can email them the part numbers and they will reply with prices. You can find part numbers on their website parts schematic breakdowns. I think my parts were from the Crown schematic or Impact but I can't recall for certainty.
