Got a big leak.

So, here is my Yong Heng filter exploded view of connector to tank. My question is: Is there supposed to be a small white plastic "gasket" at this end of filter? The one shown does not fit and I really don't know where it even came from. The larger O ring is a solid gasket rubberized on both sides and matches the one at other end. I am getting a substantial air leak when attempting to fill my tank. This is the fitting that came with the YH. I guess bigger question would be when do these small white thingys come into play?

Also, what is the fitting standard for all Yong Heng compressor fittings. Need to add to my info-base.

The thread type on that filter and most every other connection on the Yong Heng is M10x1mm.

You definitely need those white seals, but I think the problem you're running into is that your current seals have deformed enough to where they won't fit back in, or they might still fit but are too deformed to create a seal. M10 threaded connections require a seal to seal (if that makes sense). You can either use those white seals, or sometimes a dowdy seal is also used. In a pinch, you can gob on on Teflon tape and it might seal for a little bit, but it's definitely not the correct way to do it because M10 seals on the face and not the threads, like NPT. The white M10 seal goes inside the M10 female thread, then you screw in the M10 male fitting to crush the white seal and create an airtight seal. Note that it's possible to tighten the assembly too much, and you'll end up crushing the white seal to a point where the inner hole will collapse and prevent air from passing. It's one of those things where you want it tight enough, but not too tight.

I've converted most of my fitting on my Yong Heng and filtration setup over to 1/8 NPT. It's not cheap or all that practical to be honest, but I just hate dealing with M10 fittings partly for quality, and partly for availability because all that stuff has to come via slowboat from China. I just checked my parts bin and I have some extra white M10 seals. You can buy them off AliExpress or eBay, but if you only need a few like 2-3, I can try to put some in a regular envelope and hopefully the post office doesn't fuss about the envelope being too thick. Just let me know and I'm happy to send them out.

I just took a closer look at your picture and I realize that you have both the white M10 seal that goes in the female thread AND a dowdy seal (metal washer with a oring in middle. Generally, you will want to use one or the other because I doubt you'll be able to thread your fitting deep enough for the dowdy seal while not completely crushing the white seal at the same time. Those seals creates an air tight union at different points. The white seal will create a seal at the face of the threads, and the dowdy seal creates a seal at the shoulder of the fitting.

It's been a long time since I used that little filter/connector, threw it in the trash within the first week. If I remember right, I only used the white seals on those fittings, but no dowdy seals.

generell rule with white plastic seals: if you overtight them, they will deform so much, that they are sealing the whole filter :D

just pressurize your hose / filter and listen if it seals or not. if not, go tighter.

all my quick fittings in filter endcaps are now sealed with thread seal - not thread lock. huge difference!

for example: loctite 586

no more leaks and with some heat still detachable
