Got my Caiman today :)

So first off , this rifle is LOUD haha my huggett atom moderators do absolutely nothing for it. It is backyard friendly for the 30 acres im on but not for mosts backyards.

It is ergonomically more pleasing than my Taipans just simply when it comes down to how it shoulders off hand. The left side cocking is nice as well for the right handed shooter. This rifle will see no rests except bags to sight in and zero. It is currently tuned from Utah Airguns shooting 15.89 at 890 fps. My 5 shot chrono confirmed this. The trigger is not nearly as nice as the Taipan but I wasn't expecting it to be, and I can play with it and make it better, its not a bad trigger, its just hard to contest with a Taipans trigger, I do not know if any mass produced air rifle can IMO.

I went with a UTG bug buster 3-12x32 for this rifle and it is PERFECT FOR IT!! it focuses down to 3 yards and the reticle is great for the type of pesting/shooting I want to do with this. It also has the rifle in at under 6 pounds with air, a loaded mag, and the scope. It is also 21 inches from where the shoulder for the moderator mount is to the dimple in the buttstuck.

Only things it needs now is a sling , a moderator , and I am contemplating mounting a UIT to Pic adapter in the UIT rail on the foregrip so I can mount a magpul angled foregrip but still up in the air on that.

I will have some groupings and chrono readings Saturday evening for everyone and some more thoughts as well, thus far I am very pleased.

Congrats on the Caiman. Definitely a short and unique airgun. I can see why you mounted the Bug Buster on it. I guess the loudness level is attributed to how short the overall length is.

Oh ya , absolutely 100% the reason

I have it narrowed down to a Tatsu or the new Impulse 350 moderator just dont know too much about them

Don’t discount the huma offerings. You can tailor it to the sound level by adding or removing sections. That way, you could have something much shorter than you think you might need, but still be able to add sections and make it mouse fart quiet!

Honestly. I've never looked into them before maybe now is the time!

What is this talk of throwing away the "crutches" all about??;)

Man, you DO NOT mess around when you go compact. I thought your shorty Taipan was compact, but that unit has taken the stubby crown.
Can you swap the cocking lever to the right side?
It kinda reminds me of the Ataman BP17, and those little rigs shoot pretty darn decent.

Congrats man, that's a really appealing looking rig!

Yes cocking lever can be swapped to either side within a few moments much like the taipans can.

I wanted to get better at off hand shooting and I wanted something with a stubby nose for indoors so here I am

Maybe all the smack talk lit a fire under my ass haha?

I just love bullpups lol they're for me

The two or three segment, Huma M40 works well, to lower the blast out of the barrel.
Agreed, I like mine enough that I also ended up with the longer Caiman X. I like the "gray" laminate stock.
A little lubing of the moving parts, a little adjusting of the pellet speed. They don't need much to be a great little gun. And yeah, the trigger action is very nice, mine didn't need any adjusting at all to have a nice crisp, short let-off.
I keep moving sights around on mine. I think that the Primary Arms, SLX, 3x will stay on my Caiman for a while.
Bull pups were originally born as,,,short guns. Back in the late 70's, a coupla firearms makers had, roughly 27" guns.

Congrats on the new gun ! So where are you hiding the fill port and mag ? I don't call that a bullpup it's a mini-pup. Good luck on Saturday have fun !

So the fill port and mag are on the "passenger side"

The mag sits flush so if you were a lefty it wouldn't obstruct.

I'm also impressed with the carry case, as simple as it is, the padding is significant.

Thanks for the pictures, I like the idea of the mag out of the way for us lefties and the case is a nice bonus. Does the fill port have a plug like the cricket tact ll and how is the balance of the pup ? Forget about the port plug just seen MikeVV's picture. That gun would make a nice 🛻 gun for running the back forest roads around here for🐿️🐇 but with my luck I'd run into this guy👮‍♂️. For such a small gun I wonder if a butt hook would be too any advantage for holding it . Have fun

It is very well balanced, I mean it is just meant to draw , shoulder, shoot. I am going to be testing it tomorrow off bags, my magpul picatinny sling mount (going to mount it on the rear of the upper pic mount with the ring off to the right, and armageddon single point sling will be here wednesday, then friday I am heading out to the catskills to do some pigeon pesting with a fellow airgunner.

My Caiman is tuned the same, I removed all but 2 of the factory suppressors and have a Tatsu and it is backysrd friendly. I suggest that you do not fill past 250 bar and do nit store it fully charged, the regs seen fussy sometimes and act weird.

I had every intention of only filling to 230ish , thats what I fill all my rifles too, very seldom do I even bring my Taipans to 250 bar.
