Got myself a D56. Wow is this thing fun!

So my Diana 56TH arrived today (thanks @Lewis !) and I am having a good ol time with this thing. I wouldn't quite call it "recoiless" but its definitely easy and fun to shoot to say the least. 19fpe with JSB 15.89gr and its just pellet on pellet on pellet at 30 meters. This is my best group so far with it. 20x shots into about a 1/2" string. I was going to tune this thing for a bit more power but at 19fpe I dont really think I should.... anyone have any strong opinions on that?

Nice!

I will have to try some JSB pellets in my 22 cal Diana 54! It is staring at me, over in the corner, collecting dust since I got these new fangled PCP guns a few months ago....
Yeah PCPs are a whole different animal. I went out and bought myself a couple a few years ago, used them for awhile, and unfortunately got a little bored with them. I still use them for hunting and for some long range shooting but a springer is just a bit more fun for me on my home range. There's no wrong way to fave fun with any of these guns though!

According to the manual I got with my 54 Airking the 54/56 is factory tuned to deliver a couple ft-lb less energy than the 48. I assume they have a reason for doing that. 19-20 ft-lb is about right for a factory spec 54/56.
Cool so I'm right on par. I was under the impression that 22fpe (pellet pending of course) was the factory spec but I probably read something wrong. 19fpe is good for any game I'll use a springer for and I can have some Field Target fun with it to boot. Sounds like a winner to me

Glad to hear you are getting along well with it. It also shot the 15.89 Hades well.
Not much reason to try to get more than 17 FPE out of a well operating 54 or 56. The difference between 17 and 20 would barely be perceptible, and more likely to harm accuracy than to help it. As the cocking effort goes up so does the impact on scopes.

Just 2 cents.

just bought a D54 at the Michigan show , it is a beast to cock ! I have a large bruise on my leg where i set the butt of the 54 . maybe being 77 has something to do with that ? I pull the side lever down and then have to twist my arm around to push the rest of the way down to cock it . i will crony it today .

As others have said I see no reason to try and have more power. I’ve got a .177 model 48 and while it’s not particularly hold sensitive as to where you hold it it is sensitive as to how hard you hold it. I imagine more power than that and it would be so sensitive to shoot it wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable. Not saying that it can’t be done but it would just be harder to shoot consistently .
