Got the Marauder in about a week ago

I got the Marauder in about a week ago along with a bicycle style pump. I have a compressor for it but I have not set it up yet.

I haven't even looked at the rifle yet as I've been chasing down electrical issues with my home built sports car.

I picked up a cleaning kit for it. A rope style kit because I'm very hesitant about sending a rod down the business end of the barrel. The crown is important to keep as pristine as possible. I also got some good old Hoppes #9. I'll send patches from where the pellets are loaded down the barrel.

I'm working a double Saturday (16 hours) and it will probably be Monday before i can open the box.

Is there something I should be particularly careful of when starting out?

Keep the hoppes away from the o-rings I’m told….if it was me I’d probably use some ballistol. That seems to be the recommended cleaning compound by the experienced crowd…it’s oring friendly supposedly.

Before I did anything to the gun, I'd pump 2000 psi into it to make sure it doesn't leak. Let it sit with air for 24 hrs then check it.

If your "rope style kit" is a boresnake, make sure it does not have a wire brush in it (or remove them if it does). Those will tear up the breech o-ring that is installed in the barrel.

I have and use boresnakes in my PCPs and love them.

There are plastic cleaning rods and accessories that are perfectly safe for airgun barrels.

Just use weed eater line and a patch. You will need to unscrew the cap at the end of the barrel and take the baffles out.

Ballistol, not Hoppes. Do not use anything but 100% food grade silicone grease and oil inside the pressure chamber. Or just go shoot the darn thing. The Marauder is already test fired at the factory, at least mine was and came with the test target. Nothing like the CCP rifles that come with some sort of nearly impossible to remove goo inside the barrels.
