Got this in a PM

My Urban was a good shooter... Many, many kills on chipmunks and rats out to fifty yards. Longest measured kill shot at 80 yards. We understand it's not an EBR PCP. But in terms of practical field accuracy at realistic airgun ranges (sub 100 yards) it performs. I sold mine and in retrospect regret it as it was a fine knockabout PCP.

I respect your opinion and have filed it away for future reference...

However if you own "lots of high end airguns" somehow I don't think the Gamo would be on the leader board!

Thanks

Will

@uhfradarwill, I own two Brococks which have been outstanding in boring accuracy and reliability and though they cost way more than the Urban. The Urban was on par as far as pesting and hunting. Like I said we understand it's not an EBR PCP, but it is a hell of a good entry level PCP. It definitely cannot compete with higher end guns in terms of refinement. The only thing Gamo about it is the name, it is a very accurate BSA PCP.

How would you rate the noise level of the Urban compared to say a Fortitude or Mrod? .177 if you have experience with that caliber.

Thanks!

I set my buddies sons Urban to shoot 14.3’s from 805fps up to 825fps and back down to 805fps on the last pellet of the 3rd magazine. I figured he would be buying his pellets at Walmart so that’s why the 14.3 tune. I was in complete disbelief at the groups I was shooting at 50yrds with Crosmans. Not sure if that trigger is BSA. As a BSA owner I highly doubt it. After being in the gun I don’t think it’s 100% BSA. But that sucker shoots.

You do know that Gamo owns BSA now..??

I do. I wonder what that means in the future of Gamo and BSA rifles. Will either suffer any ill effects or both improve?

Will

OK, I'll ask the question a bit differently - You do know GAMO has owned BSA for the last 35 years, right?

Thanks for the different wording. No I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I've owned a couple of Gamo rifles and was never really impressed. Have never owned a BSA.

Mr. uhfradarwill,

The Gamo Urban was my first step into my air rifle addiction/hobby/wallet draining retirement. This forum was my second step into the abyss.

The Gamo has and is still on immediate standby to eliminate any rodent dumb enough to cross into the "Forbidden Zone" the wife's flower beds. Crosman 14.3 gr. Premier pellets are the proven projectile for my box stock Urban. If my 70+ year old shakey hands and blury vision get it together, rodents don't stand a chance to 25 yards. The side focus Bug Buster scope that focuses to 3 yards is perfect for the close in shots on gophers. I used to post lots of gopher kills for proof of how good the Urban works for me.

Entry level PCP, yeah, but reliable, accurate, shoots easy to find pellets and easy to hand pump if you don't have a compressor yet. Glad I got one and no I would not sell it. I do have many other more expensive air rifles but sure shoot this one a lot.

Good luck with your pesting, stay healthy and safe
