Is it a Venom?

Where actual provenance is unknown etc, is there any way to check if a gun is actually venom tuned by the boys themselves (without taking it apart!). Clues would be excellent blueing, set back brass trigger, brass stock screws etc etc- but a rifle might have the look without being an authentic...

Now you pissed me off Bill! Why do you have a venom gun? That needs to be in my collection. Time to bust out my Venom HW-77 engraved. I don't remember ever posting it. Haven't seen it in a decade, but I know it's buried somewhere.
I'll trade you one of my 80's standard R-1 for that Venom. It's a honest trade by all airgun standards.

Really? I don't understand how. Doesn't mean you're wrong. I've come across lots of original R1s but never a Venom 77. Maybe it was a joke?
