Great Portable Shooting Table

It is a good portable shooting table for a reasonable price. Emphasis on portability - really convenient to take where you need it and quick to set up and take down.

I can't quite get as stable on mine as I can my Caldwell Stable Tables - but the Stable Tables aren't portable! Maybe it is because I use my MTM on a pretty soft, sandy surface. Might be more stable on a harder surface. But the combo of the MTM and a bucket with seat works well enough.

I have used mine mostly when the other 8 benches get filled up during our weekly shoots, but I can see where the MTM and bucket would be really easy to throw in the truck and take shooting out on an unimproved range.

What if the rear leg had one leg instead of two?
Yes, you are correct that it might be more stable in a 'tripod' configuration.

There is some other flex in the leg hardware at play too. Like I said above, this table is really biased towards being a 'light and portable' shooting platform. And I just accept it for what it is.

No one is going to shoot a benchrest competition off of it - it will just never have the weight and therefore the stability.

But it is a great tool to be able to easily take anywhere, set up quick, and have a shooting bench.

If you are looking to put one of these in your backyard shooting range for regular use, there are other better solutions. They run the gamut of the heavy/stable/ain't going nowhere -> light/not as stable/easily take me anywhere spectrum.

I really like the look of that one you posted, maybe something to look into adding to my gear collection

It is not bad. More stable than the MTM table in the OP, but more to fold/unfold, clip/unclip and an overall bigger, heavier and bulkier package to lug around when moving it.

I was going to say that they used to be a much better deal when they sold for like $120 on Amazon - but then I looked this morning and they are listed at $112 - which is a good price in these inflationary days.

For a more permanent and stable shooting bench I don't think that you can beat the Caldwell Stable Table for the price (or make your own, but I was too lazy).

But for a pretty darned good bench which you leave set up in your back yard range, and maybe move around just a little, the 'Lite' is pretty good. And they are made of materials which weather pretty well (but you can also get a cheap BBQ cover at Amazon to keep your shooting bench out of the direct sun, rain, snow, etc.)

Not shown on a 'Lite' model, but you get the idea - And BBQ covers regularly go for cheap on 'Lightning Deals'.

I have the green MTM table, full size caldwell stable table, and a tripod with ballhead setup. After seeing the South African crew shooting off simple rectangular white plastic tables, I gave my favorite Lifetime table a go also: https://www.lifetime.com/lifetime-80387g-4-foot-adjustable-height-table-commercial (Costco used to carry these, not sure if they still do)

At least for me, the rule of thumb has been that the faster it sets up the less stable it is going to be. I'd rank them like this in order of least stable to most:

tripod -> MTM table -> Lifetime rectangular table -> Caldwell stable table (the heavy one)

After trying the Lifetime table some, I've stopped using the MTM table. The MTM legs are fairly wobbly. I find the Lifetime table more stable and just as fast to set up. Depending on how portable I need things, I either pick the tripod, Lifetime table, or Stable Table.

my budy pat has one, i didnt know. anyways he says its pretty good but seat is 17 inches low. i think the stable table with more seat hieght is a winner, just thinking after a fusion less bending as i want to shoot as soon as i will be able to move around some few weeks i sure would think
