Great time at Fairfield Sportsmen's Association match!

Finally made it to my first field target match at Fairfield Sportsmen's Association in southwest Ohio. Excellent course with a wide variety of targets- frog, dragon, turtle, skunk etc! The best part by far though was the people. Super friendly & very helpful to the new guy, picked up some great tips & appreciate the education.
Extra thanks in particular to Jeff Little for his patience with all my questions, and great advice- it's not a stretch to say his tips directly led to several points I would otherwise not have picked up.

Awesome report of your first ft experience. Sounds very much like my first match. FT guys are great about sharing equipment and tips and making the newbies feel like part of the gang. I think if more airgun folks would just show up and try out a match they'd be hooked. Tons of fun and almost always in very good company.

I've more than once changed my plans and shot a different gun so that I could free up my USFT and lend it out to newbies. I have fun with it because it lets me confirm my theory that a majority part of the equation to winning ft is equipment, and that gun also is sure to make a convert, lol.

That's pretty awesome, bet you have hooked more than a few that way!

Very fortunate to have access to some nice equipment, & admit it was nice knowing that the Wolverine can hit a nickel from 50 yards every time in calm. Knew it was all on me- no wondering if it threw a flyer or what not. It was up to the task, 60 times out of 60. 16 times out of 60, I was not! Can't lie, pretty happy with that... went into it thinking if I could hit as many as I missed, it'd be a good day.

The distinctive sound of a target falling over is addictive!

Man, if you only dropped 16 points in your first match, that is OUTSTANDING!

Jeff Little is a good guy, fun to talk to and he knows stuff. Being from up in NE Ohio, he shoots with some pretty serious competitors.
Funny thing about the 'top shots' in the state is, they are all outgoing friendly guys who will talk your ear off about techniques and practices if you let them.
It's like getting a free graduate level course in shooting just shooting the bull with most of the guys you meet on the circuits in Ohio.

Glad to hear you had fun man, see you down there next weekend for BR.

Thanks Chuck!

Graduate level course is a great analogy. Picked up a lot from this forum, YouTube videos etc. that helped a ton with basic preparation, but getting paired with @whitefox545 was like having Albert Einstein assigned as your science tutor :D
