I have an original Avenger like that but with the plastic stock. Some plastic stocks are OK but the three piece one on the original Avenger is thin hard plastic. Not very nice. Wood should definitely be better. I think a 22 or even 25 caliber Avenger (like I have) will be a great squirrel slayer. They tend to be quite accurate and are easy to tune to the power your want. Mine wears a 4-16 West Hunter scope. I saw it a good fit for the Avenger. Lots of features for the price. A 3-9 or 4-12 Hawke Vantage would be other "good deal" scopes.
