Ground squirrels Hhhmmmm

We are on our way home to Washington state slowly. Stopped for a week to do some shooting. At 4600' and snow forcast the shooting is slow 18 yesterday afternoon and 50 or so today. Spitting snow 20° to 45° cold. Longest kill a little over 100 yards, most in the 40 to 50 range. Crown 500mm .22 shooting Hades. 100 shot, guessed distance wind and hold over, held over his tail and hit his head. One more day like today and forcast for warmer should help.

Where are you shooting. Here in SE Washington there are no squirrels this year. I have only seen one. I think our late snow last year caught them in their holes.

Im in NE California on my way home "SLOWLY" extending the Snowbird RVing winter. In a week or so central to SE Oregon should be good for ground squirrels as the weather in the high desert warms.

Im going to get into ground squirrels this year because i just got my pellet gun after pretty much everything else closed.. so definitely need to find some asap!

With all the rain & cold (relative to California) we've had the last few weeks the "squeaks" are reluctant to show their heads here in SoCal too. When the weather warms I & my guns will be ready & waiting. Hope they come out in force this year!

Weather today was better but wind was up. 32 earned squirrels today. Longest 97 yards measured after, had to walk in windage and hold over, 6 shots to get the critter with 6" or so windage and 2" more hold over than normal. Hope Tomorrow brings sun and squirrels out. Just few targets is hard to contend with.

We're planing a trip to Cedarville to blast away at Beldings the @ 2nd week of April & hear there already out and about .. just too damn cold at 4500 ft currently to have it be much fun ... gotta be FUN !! fun in the high desert sun fun !!

Have you been to Cedarville before? If you haven't already, call and let them know you'll be shooting an air gun and they will put you in an area for airguns only. It won't be fun to have a bunch of guys around you shooting firearms. Have fun

Going there for years .. we have permissions on ranches the general public does not get access to. Way more target opportunities !!!

It's the Sunrise motel issue with Suzi only having IIRC 16 rooms and the other motel in town shut down. No camping except south of town.

Who do you call for airgun specifics sites? The only place I know is the Rabbit Trax station.

13 out of 16 shots today. Can you say wind sheesh! Only shot 2 hours today rain rain go away. Longest shot was 55 yards with 4-6" hold into the wind. Tomorrow is forcast better.

Not much better today. 22 dead squirrels, high of 39°, some wind, little sun. New day Tomorrow.

Winters grip is still rather tight ... Soon as it breaks loose the Alfalfa grows and squirrels get cover rather quickly.

Then there is the BADGERS ... seeing any ?

Been looking but have not seen a badger yet. 19° this morning partly cloudy might get over 40° today.

Well a better day today. A little over a 100, lost count. Wind was still here but much better for shooting. Longest shot about a 100 yards, lull in wind and standing straight up, very lucky head shot with lots of hopping around. For some reason lots of pass throughs that I thought were misses. Sun most of the day but 39 but comfortable with low with. Also saw a coyote and maybe 60 deer. Hope tomorrow is better LOL.
