Guns with the "happy switch"

I'm not going to guess the reason(s) that the individual posted his video of killing the possum, maybe he thought it would impress us, maybe he's a younger individual, etc...

The older I get the less appeal that hunting has. I just can't find it in my heart to do it any longer, even with ethical shots. I'm more into live and let live.

I have 2 full autos.

The DPMS SBR which is neat but the mag loading sucks 110%. And don’t shoot it too much because of that.

The other I have is a transferable Mac11 Nine. It’s fun but expensive to feed.

Don't own a Barra 400, but I have shot one. It's a well made gun, fun to shoot. About as accurate as you can expect from a smoothbore BB rifle. Good short range casual plinker.

I converted a select fire Marui Steyr AUG from 6mm Airsoft to .177 BB. It's an electric spring piston gun like the Barra. Machined a new .177 barrel liner, altered the gear ratio and mainspring to be better suited to the heavier steel BB's, and modified the magazine to feed .177. Works well. Accurate enough to plink soda cans on semi auto out to 20-30 yards. Getting around 500 fps with a full auto cyclic rate of 800 rpm. Magazine holds 300 rds, and I get around 4000 shots per battery charge. Uses an 8.4v NIMH battery pack. I'm very much a traditional springer guy, but a little full auto action from time to time is great fun.

My next project is to convert this electric 6mm Classic Army FN M249 to .177 BB.

How does the AUG mag load?

How does the AUG mag load?
There's a port with a sliding cover on the top of the mag. Open it, pour in the BB's, close it, and give the ratcheted wheel on the bottom of the mag a few turns to put tension on the feeder/follower. There's a watch type spring inside that keeps constant pressure on the internal feed drum/follower to push the BB's up into the breech. Just a few turns are enough to feed all the BB's till the mag goes empty.

I REALLY REALLY wish airgun manufacturers would produce pieces like this.
I think full auto BB & pellet guns are here to stay.
They just need a bit of momentum.

The best sub I have is the rare PPK-00-1 Kedr clone.

I view the FA air guns as 2 categories.

- Realistic looking clones that are accurate in size, function, weight and materials.

- Those that are more toyish and more function over form.

I can enjoy both as long as they are reliable, well constructed and have a easy feeding and loading mechanism.

These are phenomenal!!
I would absolutely buy these if they were available!!
Post some vids of these in action!!!
Thanks. I'll do a quick vid when it warms up a bit. We're in -20 F territory right now.

The M249 is still in the planning stage, but the AUG is a done deal and I've put a couple thousand rounds through it after the conversion to .177 BB. The Barra 400 was the first production AEG in .177 BB instead of 6mm airsoft, and after it came out I figured that proves it can be done, so I started on the AUG. Love my real 5.56mm AUG and I always wanted an airgun replica of it in something with more FPE than 6mm airsoft. At 500fps it's no powerhouse, but it's more than enough for plinking soda cans at short to medium range. The weight and balance of the Marui gun is nearly identical to the real AUG as well, so I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm also going to try converting a 6mm H&K MSG90 I put together last year to .177. As far as 6mm AEG's go, it has a relatively high velocity and is quite accurate. Going to see if I can keep those attributes or even improve on them with a .177 conversion. I have a 17" Lothar Walther smoothbore .177 blank that should work well as a new barrel liner. Could be promising with the Daisy precision ground shot I use in my 499B.

I recognize the M11/9 lower receiver, but everything else is different. Is it a kit to make the MAC look like an H&K MP7 smg?

Sweet looking setup.

It’s a Lage upper kit.

Lage manufacturing turned the Mac transferable machine gun market on its head. They make various uppers and upgraded parts that you can dress up the registered receiver. Macs back in 2006 were like $4,500 now they are $12,000.

I finally gave up my dream of a full auto .22 PB. Too costly to purchase, too costly to feed. The .22 Blitz is a hoot!!. Plenty of power, mine is accurate enough. In fact my only real complaint. it needs an Addl. moderator. it's a little loud for the backyard. Everyone that has used the happy switch breaks in to a broad grin and wants more, sure can, but you get to load the mags! It also eats Crosman CPHP's with wild abandon, it likes em. and can't beat 7 bucks per 500. I am lovin my Blitz! Just deciding on the big magazine, or the Hatsan speed loader for the std. mags. Prolly both! Any experience with the Hatsan speed loader folks?
