Guy at work wants a "high" end air rifle he needing help. (Daystate) (Karlibrgun)

He has $2500 to spend tops. This will be his only rifle. He shoots 22lr also has a few nice rifles. He already got the compressor and scope. This will be for bench rest shooting 50-100 yards. Ok....so we were talking about the Daystate Red Wolf with the electronics and also the older models like the air wolf used. Are there any cons with the electronics?? This one area I wasn't familiar with because these guns are out of my price range. He also looking at the Cricket 2 tactical 60. He also like the fact the shot count on these rifles are high. He doesn't want anything that needs to be tinkered with just load and shoot. Are there anything else he should be looking at??? Thanks....

The Kalibrgun is a out of box shooter. They do very well just adjusting the external hammer spring. I can't compare it to a Daystate, just know the Cricket 2 tactical 60 25 cal I have. What I did encounter with the Cricket is the magazine index can require adjustment. Some have the issue, most don't. But if it presents itself it may need to be adjusted. Mine can get sloppy if I try and cycle it fast, normal cylces there is no issue. I just haven't felt the need to open it up if I just don't rush the cycle.

Huntsman revere. Great gun out of the box, and he'll have half his money left over.

Can always get an FX... but he doesn't want to tinker. A dreamline would be nice.

I'm just thinking rifle platforms since he shoots 22lr rifles. The huntsman and dreamline are both very similar in feel as a 22lr.

Don't forget the RAW HM1000x...Ultra reliable, super accurate, powerful, beautiful, and they have a superb trigger... They're terrific airguns straight out of the box. Now that they have a vertical cocking lever, a 1/2"x20unf thread for various moderators and high capacity magazines are available from Chris at Midwest Elite Airgun, there are no drawbacks! It's a great platform for someone who wants an airgun they don't have to mess with. Reasonably priced for such a great airgun too!

The Red Wolf, Ghost and Cricket 2 are wonderful airguns, I just wanted to share another option.

Yeah...your right.... forgotten about them!!!

I guess I am sounding like a broken record (remember those? Like a big black CD? Remember CDs....?)

If the coin isn't too much, when I see the words Benchrest and Airgun only one comes to mind. Thomas. The Thomas also can be set up for Field Target if he ever has an interest. I would spend at least half what I paid for the Thomas on glass, probably more than I paid for the gun. (March 8-80x Majesta)

You mentioned he wants it for benchrest, so might give stronger consideration to the full length guns instead of the bullpups. I say that knowing full well that many bullpups end up on the podium at BR competitions, but they are in general less comfortable to shoot on a bench.

Dare I say that the Panthera may be a good option for him if he is only looking at benchrest and is already quite familiar with rimfire...

I own two Daystate rifles (Air Wolf .22 and Huntsman Regal .20) I also own an Air Arms S510 Carbine .22 and a BSA R10 .177 - I could recommend any of those rifles as ready to shoot out of the box and no tinkering required. They all sport gorgeous Walnut stocks and have the heft and feel of high-quality rifles made for bench rest. The Air Wolf is a 2011 MY originally purchased at AoA. I am the third owner and bought it from a member her on AGN. I love this rifle and it shoots one hole at 25 yds. The electronics are easy to master, and I have had zero issues. It is fitted with a Huggett shroud and Snipe silencer and is extremely quiet and back yard friendly. The trigger is a dream. I bought the Regal from a member here on AGN and it is a laser. Another one-hole gun at 25 yds. The S510 is another one-hole gun and bought it pre-owned from AoA. It looks and operates like brand new. I bought the R10 new from AoA and it too is a one-hole rifle at 25 yds. I have done all of my shooting in my suburban back yard, so all of these rifles are quiet. The Air Wolf is a 480cc CF bottle gun and the BSA has an aluminum buddy bottle. The Huntsman and the S510 are 195cc tube guns. The Air Wolf and R10 fill to 230 BAR and the Regal to 210 BAR and the S510 to 200 BAR. Only the BSA is regulated. The two Daystate rifles are Harper Patent slingshot valve guns and the S510 has a "balanced" firing valve. The two Daystate rifles and the BSA are bolt action, and the Air Arms is side lever cocking.
Any of these rifles will satisfy the discriminating bench shooter. I have Rowan Single shot loaders for all of them. As with all pre-owned rifles due diligence is required to ensure you are getting an unmolested rifle.

If he is serious about this being his "only" PCP (I doubt he can stay out of the rabbit hole) then for $3000 and change he can get a brand new EVOL Paradigm, which is the ultimate bench gun, no tinkering needed, just shoot it right out of the box. I bought my .30 from AoA. I got a single shot loader for it from CARM.

FX Crown: Mine was my first PCP and a .25 Crown Continuum (two-barrel set) I consider this another ultimate bench rifle, but someone mentioned something about having to "tinker" with it. It has two external dials that control the valve and the hammer spring. Nothing complicated at all and actually very simple and helpful. It is also regulated and a CF bottle gun.
