Hi, I have a gx cs-4 air compressor and I was just wondering how often I have to add distilled water as a coolant into it. I have only used it 4-5 times and I put distilled water into it the day I first used it. Thanks for any advice!

Mine has 34 hrs and I havent changed it yet, looks just like the day I added it. Honestly maybe once a year but might depend on usage, dont remember it saying anything about it in owners papers. Probably more important to make sure you grease it at the intervals suggested, I turn mine one crank every 5 hrs of use

Thank you very much for the reply I don’t remember seeing it in the owners paper either I looked for information about changing the coolant but I could not find anything. Thank you very much for the information.
Just as a matter of maintenance, I'll probably flush the cooling system in a couple more years, but I hardly think it's necessary if you have a bit of antifreeze or Water Wetter in the unit to prevent oxidation of the aluminum radiator.

Thank you very much for the reply. Is the maintenance on the compressor hard I know you turn the grease knob every 5 hours but is the other maintenance tricky to figure out?

I put extended life antifreeze/coolant in mine instead of water because my compressor is out in a minimal heat shop.

I used distilled water mixed with "water wetter" in mine and it still looks just like it did the day I poured it in. I have almost 4 hours on mine. That's not as much time as others but it's worked flawlessly each and every time.

Just be sure to use something like water wetter or antifreeze mixed with it. Straight distilled water will cause corrosion over time.

Thank you for the reply and the advice should I change the distilled water and then add more distilled water with water wetter in it or should I just add water wetter into the distilled water that’s already in it?

You don't need to change all the water out, but remove at least half to 3/4 of what's in that water tank and replace with water wetter.
Just remember, if you're in a climate where the compressor could freeze, be sure to have enough anti-freeze in it instead.
