GX CS4 compressor

Yes, I primed the pump with a combination of tilting the machine and pulsing it on & off
There is water flowing from the hole near the top of the water tank
However, the water level in the tank never goes down, and I have only put in 100cc,

I have emailed GSX
They responded quickly and asked for more detail
I'm awaiting further reply

It's possible that it already came mostly prefilled. I ordered one which was mostly prefilled with what I assume was water and returned it and ordered another one which also had similar amounts of liquid in it, I drained, refilled and did that a few times before filling and running it. Both of the ones i ordered appeared to be new they just had lots fo water in them and from what I read it seemed most people got mostly empty ones, the seller said they are brand new straight off the boat never opened and that appeared to be true.

Did you remove the cover and see if the lines are full of water/coolant or are you doing this with the cover still on?

Generally, I do not take brand new items apart @HamburgerTime
So, I am doing this with the cover on'
One of the first things I did, however, was remove the water tank cap & invert the machine expecting that any water would drain out.
None did.
Would there have been a better way to drain it?

I can understand the hesitation to take the cover off, but in my case it allowed me to see an issue with a rusted clamp when I first got it. It will also allow you to squeeze the braided coolant line while the pump is running to prime and bleed the air out of the cooling system. I posted my experience here (further down the page):

https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...itial-impressions.1286601/page-3#post-1474729

Here is an excerpt-
Some things I learned:

1. You definitely want to take the orange case cover off so that you can scope out the hoses as well as see where there are air bubbles in the hoses and radiator.

2. Be sure to tilt, angle, rotate the compressor in just about every direction (while the compressor is running) to get the air out of the radiator (be sure you have the coolant cap on and tight).

3. Squeeze the braided coolant hose tightly and let the water pump build pressure to bleed out the bubbles and air pockets (this really helped me finally get the system primed).

Good luck,

@SilentSquirrel

Pretty much what he said and following https://blog.roninsgrips.com/setting-up-testing-the-gx-cs4-pcp-400-bar-5800-psi-air-compressor/

I also let mine run for a several minutes with the cap off to verify it was circulating and getting no air bubbles. Having the cover off made it easy to see all the lines were full and no air bubbles. Just turning the unit on starts the cooling fan and pump, you don't need to run the compressor also to purge the system of air. I could not find a ph neutral coolant so on the recommendation of someone else on this forum I used distilled water with the appropriate amount of water wetter additive.

Amazon has them now for 629.00 with 35.00 off coupon.....I just ordered one, it cost me 23.00 more with the taxes than buying direct from GX but at least I got 30 days to return it if something goes wrong with it....;)
After a long hiatus, im getting back into it and wanted a compressor. Mine before taxes and after the 35.00 dollar coupon was 595 on amazon, Ordered last night. 38.00 dollars in tax brought it to 630.

I had been checking on Amazon for a few days and yesterday they had them at the lower price and with the coupon so I went ahead and ordered one....Mine was 623.00 with the taxes but I think it's still a pretty good deal. I'm using a Yong Heng right now and it works very well but I wanted one that would work off 12volt so I can use it out in the field as I have several farms that I hunt and sometimes it doesn't take long to deplete a rifle when the shooting gets good...:)

Here is an update
Wei from GX has not yet gotten back to me
So, I carefully removed the orange cover (SSSHHH)
And inspected the inside
No pinched or crimped water lines.
All lines filled with water, and without air bubbles.
This look inside also made it clear that simply turning the machine over & dumping water would empty the water tank but would not drain the radiator, pump, or lines.
I concluded that the compressor shipped to me with a full radiator & pump
With the cover back in place I tested it under load.
First on pistols & rifles, which took 1 to 3 minutes each.
And then on a 90cubicinch bottle.
The bottle required 1-1/4 hours from 170Bar to 280
The pump never over heated
In fact, it remained only mildly warm.
It is slow. but quiet
I like & hope it lasts
TOTAL RUN TIME 1.6 hours

I have a question about flushing the cooling system on the CS4....I haven't seen any pics showing it, but couldn't the return hose from the pump be taken off from where it connects to the top of the reservoir and add a piece to it and run to a bucket, fill the reservoir to just below that return inlet and let the pump run while manually re-filling the reservoir until the system is flushed clean...???

The instructions I received with my CS4 said to take off the cover and check all the connections for security and any leaks. I didn't do that yet, and ran mine for a couple of hours to top off my 75cf tank. Neither did I flush my unit, but just turned it upside down and drained off what little water there was in it, filled it and ran it. The water circulated just fine without priming it, unless me turning it upside down primed it. 🍻

Is this compressor suitable for filling a 98cu tank from 3,000 to 4,350 psi once or twice a week? My YH crapped out and I would like something better to replace it with. I don't care if it's slow... If it takes an hour or two that's fine. As long it's not getting over worked, I want something that's going to last a few years.
I would have no problem topping off a 98 tank.
