GX-E-5K1 Fill Times

Starting this thread with my “real world” fill times with this compressor.

You can see my other “GX-E-5K1 Arrives” thread for unboxing, setup and filter information.

As you may recall from my previous thread:

177 minutes for 9L “Great White” tank from 0 to 4,600psi (320 bar)

8 minutes 35 seconds to fill new 580cc bottle from 0 to 250 bar. (It took me about 10 seconds to shut off the timer on my phone)

53 minutes and 40 seconds to fill new 3L bottle from 0 to 4650 psi (320bar) - update as per March 9, 2025

Additional info regarding the 3L bottle fill:
  • Everything was brand new - the bottle and valve
  • I filled to 4,650 (compressor gauge - 4,750 on bottle gauge) because I figured it will drop a bit as bottle air cools down
  • Fill time included the time to pressurize the large gold filter
  • The humidity (according to my basement humidifier) level was 23-25% - that's about as dry as it gets there
  • The amount of water that came out when I bled the line (via compressor knob) is shown - a few very thin, light streaks of water. I did not "burp" the line during the fill - straight fill from 0 to 4,650 psi.
  • My molecular sieve filter was completely dry after the fill.

@EPG That is an impressive fill time on the tank. Nice compressor.

Just for reference, I calculated how much water vapor was in the air you compressed. Based on the info you provided, you compressed roughly 1/3 of a cubic meter of air into that tank, and that air would have carried roughly 1.3 grams of water vapor with it into your compressor (assuming an ambient air temp of 68 F). It's hard to estimate how much water that venting represented - maybe half a cc? Whatever it was, the balance was adsorbed in your desiccant drier's media. After the tank cools down to ambient, it would have only about 0.01 grams of water vapor in it . . .
