I have always turned off my GX E-L2 under pressure and then opened the bleed valve to release pressure. On another thread someone mentioned that they opened the bleed valve before shutting down the compressor. Does it matter? I always start it with the bleed valve open.

I have 2 GX compressors, both are auto shutoff. The pressure switch shuts off the compressor on both them and then I open the bleed. I don't see any reason the same wouldn't apply to a non auto off unit.

Opening pressure release valves and running compressor few seconds before shut down bleeds moisture from my Yong Heng, not sure on GX-CS compressor. WM

I have a GX CS4-i. My shutdown procedure is to:
Close the valve on the tank being filled
Bleed the system using the CS4 bleed valve with the compressor running
Run the compressor under no-load for 3 minutes
Turn off the compressor
Run the water pump for another 5 minutes
Turn off the water pump and unplug the machine
I once read an opinion that described auto shut off as a "compressor killer." This may be wrong or right - I don't know, but it seems prudent to err on the side of caution.

Think I read the same article but if I remember right that applied to yong heng compressors. I think it was the early models, they had troubles with it breaking the crankshaft

I shut off my EL-2 and bleed simultaneously.
I installed a female QC to facilitate blowing out water after every fill.

When El2 reachers fill pressure I shut the compressor off, then bleed the air off. If it feels a little warm I will the turn it back on so the fans can run.
