H&N pellets- who likes them?

They make good pellets but metal is very hard. Thats why i prefer JSB.

This is my experience as well. Barrels tend to like a bit softer alloy typically

I also noticed that , they didn’t shoot as good as jsb in my wildcat- no surprise, my taipan with the LW also was not a fan , but I’m going to try them in the CZ barrels.

Here is a comparison of the 21 grain Baracuda's along with JSB and FX variants out of my FX Maverick .22 compact. Baracuda shooting 885fps at 45 yards.

I test lots of pellets to find the best performing pellet/rifle combinations.
One of my .20 R9’s prefers the H&N Baracuda 13.58 grains pellets. My .22 HW97K shoots lights out with the Field Target Trophy 14.66 Gr (5.53) pellets and easily out performs all other options in this rifle.

My Red Wolf shoots the 21.66 Gr Baracuda Match on medium power very accurately.

Having tinkering with H&N on and off for a year + now, I would describe it as a love/hate kinda thing. My LW barrel likes the Barracuda Match in .177 with 4.52 head size (10.65g) and I actually just picked up 4 tins of it. HOWEVER, the H&N led is significantly rougher and harder than, say, JSB or Air Arms Diabolo Field heavy in .177 with 4.52 head size (10.34g) which are more accurate in my Red Wolf BUT also $5-$6 per tin more expensive.

Each time I push the bolt to load a H&N pellet I can feel it "scraping/rubbing" through when making its way into the chamber, whilst with the the AA or JSB (that also look and feel much cleaner and smoother that the H&N do), the loading action is WAY smoother and almost unnoticeable. For me, the only reason I would go with the H&N is to save a few bucks:)

I'm shooting .25 caliber H&N Baracuda Hunters in my FX Maverick Compact right at 930 fps.

Groups were shot at 59 yards with the PARD, bipod and supported butt.

I have four tins of .25 Baracuda Hunter Extreme that I have not played with. The Maverick does not seem too picky about pellets. I can get it to shoot most pellets well. Doesn't seem to matter if they're Air Arms, JSB or H&N. A little tweak and a fiddle and they shoot well.

My Cricket barrel loves the H&N Barracuda 15 and 18 in .22. When I had, my Cricket 2 shoot the Barracuda Match 21gr very well.

My Uragan .22 Compact likes the Barracuda 18 but not so much the 15.

My Leshiy 2 does not seem to like any of the H&N offerings in .22. But, I have a stash of the H&N .30 cal 46gr pellets and the .30/450mm LW barrel does really well with them and the JSB .30 offerings.

As others mentioned - it is a very hard lead alloy compared to JSB. I think barrels with tighter chokes play nicer with the softer lead of the JSB.
