Had a good squirrel season...

I think I ended up with close to 200 greys this year. We are fortunate to have a lot of squirrels and long season here, it goes from October to the last day of February. This was my first year hunting with the FX Wildcat, and it preformed flawlessly. Its a .25 compact with a 500mm barrel shooting .25 Hades pellets at around 894fps. I think form 891 to 905 fps is the sweet spot for these pellets in terms of accuracy, energy transfer and expansion. I was pretty impressed with how the entire package performed. I am going to add a few pictures here from my season. This year I am going to add a power plenum and dual transfer port to see if I can squeeze a few more shots out of it. Thanks for looking!

Its 8 per day. We are lucky we have liberal limits and a long season.

You bait em or are they just that abundant in the area? Sounds like the same laws from a bout 4 years ago. The red looking fox squirrels are the exception right?

They are pretty plentiful here. Guys that deer hunt will let me hunt their feeders when deer season goes out. They feed the deer all year and the squirrels hit them pretty hard. I have several spots that I have feeders out for the squirrels but seldom hunt those. Sometimes I will hunt a hot hickory or oak tree and have pretty good luck. I take squirrel hunting a bit more seriously than most. I love it.

@LSS152 That’s cool. I don’t think as many people are hunting small game animals as they have in years past. At least I don’t see it much in these parts. It’s all about big game around here. Oddly enough I don’t see a lot of squirrels and because of this I don’t bother them unless they present an issue. After your comment I’m wondering if they nest closer to feeders. If you live in or frequent a rural area, do you see many squirrels in areas that don’t have feeders?

Yea they are pretty much every where in rural areas and in town. I feed them all year around. I leave a few places on properties I hunt as "sanctuaries" I never hunt the squirrel's there they need a place to go that does not have any pressure, it keeps the population going strong.
