Tuning Had to send my beloved FX Royale 400 back to AoA

My FX Royale 400 has been a joy to shoot for 4 years and has killed a gazillion squirrels, but last Friday (2/26/21) it finally let me down, and I don't know why. It was my first PCP, I bought it from AoA back on 2-22-17. I was shooting it and all of a sudden it wouldn't shoot. I had cocked it, shoved a pellet into the chamber and pulled the trigger - only the trigger wouldn't pull. It was as if the gun was on "Safe", but it wasn't on "Safe". I looked inside but couldn't make Heads or Tails out of it. Today, I shipped via USPS back to AoA for repair.

I'll keep ya'll posted on what they tell me.

There was probably some good videos to help you pull the trigger apart, a hammer, spring and internal cleaning could have been done at the same time.

I was hoping, so I looked on YouTube first, but there were no videos on my Royale 400 problem. All I saw were videos about trigger and power adjustments, and some basic reviews. but nothing about my "broken" trigger.

Oh man, you should have asked for help before sending it in. With the shape that USPS is in anymore I'd hate to send a gun through them right now. Anyway I hope it all goes well. Were you able to just send the action less the stock and barrel? That would save a ton on shipping.

No, jk, didn't even think about separating the gun - my bad. But I did insure it for $2K. It's supposed to arrive at AoA next Monday, the 8th - they'll have to sign for it due to my insuring it. I understand your concerns with USPS, but I've shipped several air guns (and several bows) through USPS and have not had any problems (knock on wood) - and UPS wants an arm and a leg - plus they always give me grief about "What kind of gun is this?" I say, "It's an air rifle", and the idiot clerks, even with their heads together, act like they don't have a clue that an air gun is not a firearm - of course, it may not be an act on their part. The USPS has never done that to me. Maybe they understand It's an airgun because I'm shipping it to AIRGUNS OF ARIZONA. I say that because I shipped an air rifle to BAKER AIRGUNS and UPS was ridiculous with their questions and challanges.

Ayaayyaaayyyy !

I would hate to see my beloved royale depart in a box ... hopefully the painful separation will be short !

Thanks, that's my hope, too.

BTW - Just yesterday I received a new/used rifle from AOA. I guess that they are quite busy as I don't recall getting the 'shipped' notification on this one - So what a nice surprise when the USPS man left it on my porch.

Big and ill-fitting, semi-customized box since the rifle was shipped in an aftermarket hard case. But both the shipping carton and rifle arrived in excellent condition. And other than some unusual delays with receiving some things lately through USPS, they have never lost or damaged any gun I have shipped through them.

Hopefully you will have your beloved Royale back and shooting very soon!

Wasn't aware that AoA worked on FX guns. I suppose that it's out of warranty?

Thanks why I called, they do work on FX, at least on the Royale, and, yes, it's out of warranty. FX's don't have too good a warranty, 12 months.

3 year warranty now at least. My guess is the spring popped out.

I did a Google search and discovered that:

  • FX Airguns USA offers a full factory back-up service to each FX Airgun that it imports into the US. All FX Airguns manufactured from October 2017 and on are warranted to the retail consumer for three (3) years from date of purchase against faulty workmanship and defective materials. Proof of purchase is required. The warranty of your FX Airgun is transferable with copy of original invoice or receipt.

Mine, bought in Feb of 2017, is out of warranty, anyway you look at it. I wonder if it would have been covered had I have bought it within the warranty period of time.
