Here are two very handy tools for that I use daily for my gunsmith needs. Keeps the screw from getting buggered up and the correct torque on all bolts and screws.
I built a spring press but not crazy about it. It does the job with the barrel on or off. Because sometimes I don’t need to remove the piston just check/change the spring.
The other tool I made is a hot wire foam cutter. I like cutting foam to fit the gun exactly to its shape.

I use to have the home depot husky toque screwdriver . I liked it then loaned it to a friend and he left it on a job .. of course he crawfished on a replacment .. then what are friends for?

I don't loan tools.

Nothing would frost my stones like an experience described above. Tools have been described as '...acquired over a lifetime and lost in an instant.'

I have the same driver kit as pictured above by maxtrouble. Great driver, excellent locking case. Agreed that it's worth every penny, 1,799 of them!

Have you ever borrowed out a tool and then had to get it back from a third party that it was given to? I have. Have you ever borrowed out a tool and then got a dirty look when you asked for it back? I have. When I need a tool I buy it, I also don't borrow out a damn thing now. Thanks for showing me two more tool sets that I will buy OP.

I have a wood shop. Something that I adopted from there. I don’t loan tools. Just like my trailers forget it.
I made three handy tools from scrap wood. I’ve found them to be very handy. They’re made of pine so they’re soft on the metal. The first is just a long V groove

When knocking out pins and working on trigger. Great place to hold the cylinder even when you’re not working on it. I’m going to make two new ones one about the same size as this, and a shorter one to straddle the cylinder. Their groves will be matched. Very handy tool.
Next from maple I made a pry bar. The HW80 needs persuasion to open it up. Most say to use an adjustable wrench covered in a rag and whack it.

I think it was 3/8 thick. Simple but useful.
I made 2 or 3 piston presses and bought one. Don’t like any of them. Mine worked better than the bought one. Go figure.

I use this to put some back on. Need a sticky material on nub to grab when twisting the insides back on. Hold wood with feet and use body weight.

I have a similiar set but made by "Chapman" have used it for well over 30 years, very popular with gunsmiths. Never buggered a screw nor has one of the bits ever broke !!

I think the most important tool besides a spring compressor is my Harbor Frieght 7"x14" Metal Lathe. Got it back in 2014 for $450.
Best money I ever spent .

That glue like goop i using now is called E6000. Should be locally available like ace or Walmart. It cures rubber like and bonds strong but easly removes ( if that makes any sense). Goop got hard to find here for some reason and this bern a good option like it. Just got to buy and try and see what you think overall i guess.

Any gun parts making contact with anything like the spring press, padded vise, etc. Any sudden movement of a tool that is dropped or inadvertently makes contact to the metal saves a permanent scar.

I have the Brownells master set and a fat wrench. The wheeler set looks of equal quality. I also have various pliers and pin punches from Brownells.

Ya, the good blue applies and removes no mess no fuss. And you can leave it on forever or it gets wet and still no fuss removal.. 3m did good in comming out with that blue masking tape adhesive.

I have two sets of professional vise pads. Had them for decades. Don’t remember the company. One is for wood (red) and the other for steel. My friend who owed a gun shop and was a smith used these and each smith he had on hand had their own vise and station. They tied a string around the pads to keep them in place. I inlayed super magnets and JBWelded them in. Absolutely the most used item in my shop.

I made a dovetail type using a old one piece scope mount , 1" pipe , and that end off a like pipe clamp . I ise to have pictures but lost the device they were on. ( I really need a external hard drive for theres hand held devices to hang on to that stuff)

I'm sure anyone can figure that one out anyway or picture it in there mind / imagination). Anyway beat the h€11 out of dumping $100+ on that air venturi one..lol.

Definitely a lot of good ideas on homemade compressors out there to look at and come up with ideas for thete own.

Edit... My bad was a 3/4 clamp end on a short pipe fit in the scope mount .. sorry

I made up these aluminum pliers soft jaws to get this turret sight adjusting screw moving on an old BSA prewar. Gripped the straight knurls nicely with out marring. Saved them and have used them a few times since. I probably got those old pliers for nothing. This old boy will scrounge hand tools any where! Anytime! You never know what tool will get the job done until you use it.
I have a crazy looking (and a little rusty) Japanese long nose vise grip plier that I found under the seat of a pickup truck I bought years ago that has been very useful many times. Not necessarily on airguns though.
