1st day i haven’t had much wind to shoot since I don’t know when so out with my new maverick.177 I’m going to use in field target and setup for yardages and all went very well then cause it was a bit calm yet I decided to really go for it and shot this at 122 yards!! The low shot was me with an incorrect hold over
Your one of the first I've seen with a .177 barrel in a newer gun from FX post. How is the grouping at 55yds? The Crown or the Dreamline in the FT chassis was on my list, but was hearing mixed reviews about the accuracy and consistency in .177.
Well shot this yesterday on a bucket with stix and im not as steady as i used to be( no elbows on knees) the black is 1 1/8” I’ve been shooting mostly this way haven’t had much opportunity to bench the gun at distance yet shot 122 off rifle case on quad rack
Well here’s a update to my adventures with the mav in 177. Shot my first match with it and it wasn’t bad but wasn’t as good as i had hoped. 1st and foremost i need a scope with an illuminated reticle as toward the end of the match and all the paint shot off everything i was losing the reticle. I think i would have done much better if this were not the case. As for slugs I’m switching to jsb 10.3 and keeping my fingers crossed as the slugs are close but I believe just a bit too tight in the barrel Oh well we’ll see after the next 1. Shot 33 out of 60 came in 4th hunter pcp
Ok so after more tuning ( took the liner out and adjusted some o rings and reindexed) I’m really happy with how its shooting slugs now. Was to a ft match today and tied with 2 others for second. Moving in the right direction!
I am very happy with my FX in .177 for FT, I bought an Impact MK1 and I put a superior liner in .177, it shoots very well in both sub 12 and sub 20 fpe, in sub 12 with the JSB of 10.34 and in sub 20 with the redesigned 13.43g JSB.
I also put a 300cc bottle in it, it was beautiful as a compact. Additionally I put a low power Huma regulator
The first was 40 something and the second 33. Shot 38 on second and basically threw away the first 6 targets cause sometimes im just stupid. Lol was a 3 way tie for 2nd
Well i thought id continue with my ft jurney here and tell about last match. Day before taking some practice shots at 11 yds and the slugs aren’t shooting well. So switch to pellets which was good and bad as I didn’t adjust my 0 quite as well as i thought but still shot my best score yet so still progressing. Since i have a fair supply of pellets going to stick with them for a bit but am not giving up on the slugs just yet i think they will do very well if i can get everything just right. Course was a 33.34 and i shot 41
Continuing my saga. Lol. This months match had a troyer of 33 shot a 38 and im blaming a light and variable breeze! Lol I’d hold for it when it wasn’t there and not hold for it when it was had a number of hits right on the edge. Well thats my excuse anyway! Lol. Had a good time thanks greg! Got a new secret weapon for the maverick put it in after the match and i might be going to try slugs again. Have to shoot it more to be sure
Well new secret weapon ( added a carbon fiber sleeve) and some other minor adjustments got me a 40 at todays match with slugs! Wish i was as steady as i once was but what ya gonna do? I would recommend the sleeve to anyone shooting a fx as it seems to help a lot! Troyer for this month was 34.1. There were 15 over 40 yds. Got 1 more try this year to try to get close to 50! Guess we’ll see what happens next month.
Well the last match of the year is coming up and i just might be finally prepared. i made 2 brass washers to tension the barrel with the shroud out of .1 thick brass— wow what a difference!! I have the gun now where if i miss i can only blame the wind or me ( i hope) lol. So we’ll see what happens in the next installment
Well the conclusion of my first year in field target with my maverick was something else! Talk about a blustery day! At 1 point i had what i would guess a 5 mph wind hitting my face while looking through the scope at a small plastic bag flying toward the target! Wind was the game of the day. Troyer was 33-34 + the heavy wind. Shot a 41 not sure why but i just didn’t hit well first 1/2 of the matchbut came on much better second 1/2. Was still a lot of fun even if I didn’t reach my personal goal but I’ll be back next year to knock more of those little critters down! Would like to send out a big thanks to greg for putting on a fine event and to anyone reading this get out and give it a try it’s 1 hell of a lot of fun!
Well after just checking things out I discovered that my barrel tension loosened up it the cold temps this morn and apparently tightened back up as it warmed toward the end of the match which is why i shot better. Wish i would have thought of that at the match.
