I've taken two raccoons this summer. I used my .177 Diana 48 with Seneca 16.1 gr domed hunting pellets. Both were shot at dusk just short of 30yds from a slight up-angle, and I waited for a solid flank shot where I could put the round through the ear. Both were quick and clean kills. As others have said, they're tough, and shot placement is a large part of the equation for both PCP guns as well as magnum springers.
