I imagine most people probably use soft bullets, but would there be any advantages to using hardcast lead. Do you think they would break bone and exit where asoft wouldn't have? Aether any animals hardcasts are required for? Just curious what yall thought.

Software has nothing to do with projectiles. Pure lead will break bones as well as anything and performs best at subsonic velocities like airguns produce.

I don't think hard cast lead will hurt steal but hard lead takes more energy to shoot. Hard lead will be lighter. So might make up the difference. JMHO.

I don't see any real advantage to using hardcast bullets in the 800-950 fps range. You can get your desired wound channel using soft cast/ cowboy action bullets by choosing bullet style.
Something like a coyote I would use a light fast bullet with a large hollow point. A roundnose will just pencil through with minimal damage.
Something medium sized like deer I would use a flatnose or SWC. A good combination of penetration and tissue damage.
Something big and tough like a hog I would use a heavy round nose to ensure max penetration. Hopefully the shot can puncture both lungs and the hog gasses out quickly.
