Believe differences would be cal. and likely psi. . Did a fast search for one and did find the .177 bolt action, the Gen2 would be sidelever(?).
I own a .177 Gauntlet purchased when the 1st came out & never had any issue period. One finger cocking and a Very light trigger but if you like you could do the "QB78 plunger mod" which is what FX uses to create a fake 2 stage. Also truly outstanding accuracy. I have a video posted somewhere on this forum showing cocking & firing but couldn't find it .

(edit) found the video of how one should cock. If your did/does not seem like this there is every chance due to the manufacturing processes the bolt is not straight (easily fixed with a dead blow on the work bench) :
Did not know until today there is sound, turn that crap down.
I still have my original .177 Gauntlet. It’s very accurate.
I have Hajimotos supertune kit for it - but haven’t installed it yet - was waiting for a leak but none in 5 years, lol.
The supertune kit provides a lighter poppet, which enables a lighter hammer spring. The kit also provides a hammer spring adjuster (stock Gauntlet has no reg or hs adjustment). You drill a small hole in the back of the stock to access the provided adjuster with an Allen key.
My Gauntlet actually shoots 10.5g Crossmans extremely well. At 855fps. I’m talking precision target accurate with WalMart pellets - not simply good groups.
The stock Gauntlet bolt is very still cocking - even in .177. It’s also a very long rifle. DonnyFL used to sell a shorter shroud for the G1 - I bought and have the G1 shroud on mine. Haji also used to sell a rudimentary 2 stage trigger for the G1 shroud- I have this installed on mine as well.
