Has ANYONE had there tank fail the hydro testing?

Talking to a local fireman , He said he has never heard of a tank failing the test,
He has been on the job for 40 years,
That's kind of where I get the tanks are over built,,,
Everyone that has seen my Great White Carbon fiber tank Has ben very impressed with it,
Most of them think I am a scuba diver, Then I tell then is to fill a gun..
First words out of there mouths is , Your poopting me.... LOL.

I have seen tanks fail during Hydro. I have seen tanks fail while being filled. You don't want to know how dangerous it is when a tank fails while being filled. It can blow holes in walls, it can kill, it has killed. Please don't take the risk. Get your tanks tested and don't use them after their rated life. Your life is worth more than the cost of a new tank. 

PS I do not sell tanks and have no personal gain from tanks being sold or tested.

There is a study going on to possibly extend the life of them.
I do find it odd were concerned about our tanks being outta date or expired but yet we will hold a PCP air gun right up against our faces and never think twice about that air cylinders date or condition.
(Just some food for thought)

Personally I have witnessed a Hpa Paintball tank fail twice during scenario events.the player had fallen with it during the day and must have really gouged the coating to the aluminum and later after play it exploded inside his gear bag about 20 foot from my camp site.the gear bag took all the damage and nobody got hurt but man it scared the hell out of me and my friends. The explosion ripped the bag wide open .the other instance was similar but the player over filled a 3000 psi tank at a 4500 psi fill station and a few minutes later the burst disk ruptured with a loud pop and screaming hiss.the player holding the tank just had a look of shock on his face but luckily didn't get hurt.
Both tanks were in date but failed to outside circumstances.

Watching some of those PB vid's (and seeing how those guys sliding, diving, etc) I wonder why there aren't many more of those exploding.

Yeah been playing Paintball since early 90s and that's the only high pressure tanks I've seen fail and all due to the player and not the tank itself.I have also seen Paintball shops refuse to fill a tank because of the ruff condition and not it being outta date or expired. Lol pb tanks see alot of action compared to my airpacks .:)

Ooh to answer the question, I have never had a tank fail a hydro test.
I purchased 2 scuba tanks in the late 80s and have always kept them in good standing without any issues or problems. I now have the same 2 scuba tanks as well as 2 Scott 88 airpacks and all good.
If the government says (as long as the airpacks can pass testing you can keep them in service), I wouldn't mind a yearly visual and 3 year hydro if over the 15 year mark.:)

OK warning do not knock the head off your tank,
I would like to see one pop from over filling or just old age,
Around here its hard to get a tank filled because the Paint ball kids would grease the oring to make them seal better,
Just what I was told,
I bought a compressor just to stop the hassle , and to save 35 dollars a fill , No matter empty or 3000 to 5000 PSI

I do not know what an air pack is, But did it blow up or just pop,
Everyone out here in the oil field have been very impressed with my great white tank, Where I used to have it filled
The guys filled it to 5000 psi sitting on the back of a pick up from some other tanks, I was a little concerned, They 
kidding around and said that tank will take 10,000 psi easy and it would just pop not blow up,
You just never know,

I am concerned that in the future we are going to see more tanks failing hydro and worse, more accidents with tanks and guns exploding. Lets face it this is an expensive hobby and having your own air supply is really nice, but all these shoeboxes and omegas and mrod compressors are being used without a proper dryer on the output side and tanks and guns are being filled with damp air. This will corrode the interior of air tanks and make them an explosion risk at some point.

Someone is going to get killed I'm afraid. That's why as much as it hurt my finances, I purchased a dive compressor and I'm going to get my tank hydro tested on schedule despite the fact that no one is going to force me to do so since I can fill it any time I want.

Most of us know Joe B. He is a salesman and if you've spoken to him or read his adverts, he sounds like a typical sales guy and so many of us might tune his warnings out as just a sales pitch. I do believe on this account he is very right. The diablo air dryer from what I can see is absolutely worthless. Joe B's dryer is what each and every one of you guys using shoeboxes and omega's and mrodair and any other non dive compressor should be using. Is your life or your kid's life worth sacrificing for saving $400?

I have NO affiliation with Joe or any other company, but I really, really believe that there are a lot of ticking time bombs out there that will start showing up in the years ahead.

The place I'm getting air -hydro's I'm waiting for one now- His hydro gages are out for calibration-There is a 30min C/F bottle looked like someone used it for a club and was pitted on the inside,would'nt pass.And a 6000psi cascade bottle from somewhere that failed,during hydro ,burst the 3-4" disk down by the base of his hydro,pushed a wall,knocked the crap out of stuff,if ya look close there is a1/4" nick in the bottle right where the tear started-he stated there are 100 year old yellow 6000 psi bottles still in service,-says 6000 psi bottle are coming in 60m C/F-but not to rush out and get one, he cant fill it all the way up - no affiliation to joe either but my guy did'nt blink when I first handed him Tank and din 300/cga347 adapter,from joe,This guy wont mess with paint ballers as he put it to much 3000psi stuff on 4500 tanks,got tired of preaching -no one listening, wont be part of it-

I have two scuba tanks, faber steel rated at 3442 psi. I bought them new, searched for a hydo place, found one 60 miles away, brought them in and dropped them off, 3 days and later they were ready, 21 dollars each to test.

They've never been in the water other that for the test.

I fill them myself, to 3200 psi.

5 years from now, if i'm still around they'll be retested.

WOW, $35 @ fill! That's the highest charge I've seen so far! My dive shop fills to 4500 for 8 bucks and so far they've always done it right away while I wait. Great folks as well, hope they never close!
