I saw something on the Pyramyd blog about a 40+ fpe .30 cal 135 tuned by John in PA. I want something like that. Anyone doing this kind of work or was that a one off project? Now that I got my R9 sorted out I want this ultimate magnum breakbarrel.

Surely someone like this is on the forums. I have a feeling this might have to be a DIY. Everyone that tunes this kind of gun usually gives up some power for better shooting characteristics. I understand that a longer barrel helps a lot.

I like this monster springer as well, and I sure think a longer barrel would help a lot with accuracy.
But is there even a longer barrel available anywhere? I sure haven't been able to find one in Europe.

I am certain a longer sight radius helps with open sight accuracy. Make it easier to cock as well.

Heck Hatsan should make it a factory option with a nice 24” or so of barrel. These airgun people are listening, someone is going to innovate and see if it will sell. A matter of time I think.

I have a Hatson mod.130. What a pile driver. Hard gun to cock. Unfortunately I own several Weihrauch’s and it’s mechanism is not in the same league. I rarely shoot it. I just use it for stuff like elephant water buffalo and rhinoceros. Crow

A longer barrel would be great for some added leverage! Just sent mine in to hatsan, got a lemon unfortunately.

We worked with these powerful magnums from day one when everyone else would not touch them, they said oh you cant get parts for them and they are junk.
excuses, excuses while sticking with the easy high end rifles that any one's mom can do. we knew these had great potential if some one was willing to pay for the cost.
we paid with years & countless days and long hours in the shop and now we succeeded, with new custom parts and even re barreling them we know what to look for on everything on the guns & we rebuild the gas rams.
Now they are smoother and full power and usually more fps.
On the buyers part most likely they will get one with something wrong with it that's been that way from day one with a hatsan but if someone wants a powerful magnum they can now get theirs over hulled gone thru from stem to stern fully worked & even re barreled. Yes it will cost of course but just look at the cost of PCP, here you have a grab & go powerful magnum at a fraction of what pcp would cost
the WORD is not out yet it has not caught on in the air gun community, so far many guns Ive re built went to non air gun members including the one I am currently doing a video on a hatsan QE 135 .22

I just received my hatsan .30 cal back from Rich. What a difference it made. Smooth shooting and less recoil. My airgun has a slightly larger bore. Rich still managed to get some fps out of it. He rebuilt the gas piston. He also custom makes them.
I may opt to get a barrel custom made from Mike one day. There is definitely more potential in this gun with the right size barrel.
Rich believes my barrel may be as big or bigger than .305 midway through the barrel. This results in loss of air and pressure around the pellet.
Rich is very professional and has lots of knowledge on hatsan. I would recommend him for any hatsan owner.

It's possible a longer barrel could help with accuracy, but more likely a shorter barrel would work better. I can see no need for a barrel any longer than the compression stroke of the piston which is less than 10in. Anything longer will usually just slow the pellet down. The only benefit usually in a break barrel is that it's easier to cock.

the power of a magnum works with the proper pellet to bore fit and the length of that barrel and a Hatsan magnum will be smoother if the correct size caliber is used with the power of that magnum such as 135 125
which leads us to barrel length for the mentioned magnum
Hatsan 125 135 magnums would be best suited with a barrel length long enough to keep the resistance needed for a full balanced shot cycle
A Hatsan QE 10-1/2 BARREL IS cutting things to close for being able to hone a magnum gun in for smoothness especially since the pellet to bore fit on that 10-1/2 barrels pellet to bore fit may may be iffy .
14" would of been better as a minimum but since a barrel is needed for cocking aid also a proper hand break or shroud with the barrel is needed and accuracy would be reached with a 14" barrel or a 16" barrel giving the shot cycle plenty of time to do what it needs to do
other wise the lack of pellet to bore fit due to a short barrel would result in piston slam and a horrible shot cycle
the pistons swept volume works with the barrel length and pellet to bore fit not pellet skirts flaring out to give you a proper pellet to bore fit
you would just get blow by and the magnum will not be honed in
barrel length after a certain point is useless other than a cocking aid but needs to be long enough to keep resistance in the bore long enough for the swept volume to reach maximum potential and balance
Hatsan 135 minimum bore size would be .22 but . 25 cal is best resulting in a smoother shot cycle provided all of the above has been met including a proper piston seal which Me and Rich use and install and they are made to Riches specks
