Hatsan Hatsan .30 cal Carnivore died

The Vortex Ram is dead. I have had a half dozen die in the past few years. I converted them all over to spring. A while back, Hatsan had the conversion kit to a spring for the 135, (spring, receiver cap, spring guide and washers in stock for $39.99. They might still have them. I like the 135 better with the spring. And it won’t poop out in a few years. Probably never as little as I shoot it. But once in while, it’s fun to get out.

it is the break barrel

If the rebuild or serviceable type that you could try a PCP hand pump and hatsan fill probe to re air it up .. may hold pressure for no time , some time , or long time . You kinda figure a PCP pump is 50$ , then a probe $10+/- or hatsan parts new ram $59 , or spring convert of hheres one for that being a .30 40$

It's a darn if you do or don't on anyway you go to fix ..

Getting a Hatsan apart is tricky as you will need a dummy pin for the trigger. And a press.
To get it apart, a dummy pin yes. But not a press. With a dead Ram, getting it apart is simple. Installation, is where the press is needed. I know this is what you meant. Just want to clarify for the op. If you want to convert to a spring (I highly recommend) then you will need a heavy duty press. I built this one specifically for the 135. Then it can handle anything else.

Spring or gas ,you will need a press to compress it to assemble. 😉

How far do you have to compress the ram to get the pin in?

My cometa has a bunch of preload but you only have to go 1/4". A compressor jig is nice but definitely not needed.

I know the rifle is a beast. But the OAL of the ram dosent require much compression to assemble does it?

SUCCESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can not believe it worked or should I say I got it to work.
I was going to ship it to Hatsan and let them install it but shipping was $120 at Fedex so Nope !!!!!!!!!
After watching you tube videos by Mike Ellingsworth at least 100 times I finaly did it.
I ordered a spring kit from Hatsan, built a spring compressor and went for it.
I do not have shop tools so I cut the C clamp with a hacksaw for the spring compressor. I used a hand drill to drill 3 holes in the clamp.
When I disassembled the Hatsan 135 and put the spring in it, seemed too long.
Back to the video's, I trimmed the spring length to pretty much be at the end of the barrel.
I cut 2 inches of coil spring off, let me just say cutting a spring without a dremmel or torch is very difficult but a hacksaw and sawsal finally got it done.
I heated up the end off he cut spring using our gas stove flame which worked great. I got the end flat and proceeded to put everything togather.
Sure enough the quatro trigger fell apart. Back to the video's. Those things are like jigsaw puzzles. Plus the pins kept falling out as I went.
I finally got it all back togather. When I tried to cock it the first time it would not catch ?
I almost lost my mind but I pulled the trigger and that must have rest it and it worked, Thank God.
It shoots great.
What a feeling of accomplishment !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the advice and post's guy's !!!!!

Congratulation! It’s not long. It has a lot of preload. It takes a spring compressor with a long throw to get the spring in. You will lose a bit of power by cutting the spring down. I also line the piston with blister pack plastic. Just thick enough to hold the spring in snuggly. This eliminates twang. Good job.
