Hatsan 95 (.25) Spring (New Purchase)

For 160 bucks that's a damn good deal. And it comes with a walnut stock! I was looking at it on Amazon. You really got me tempted!
Like I said it’s not winning any awards but I’ve handled all price levels of air rifles and despite what people say, you can get along just fine with this from what I have seen. Obviously time will tell but so far I’m loving it!

Yes I will definitely be trying the new screws!

No matter how good a value the Hatsan 95 is, I'd recommend spending more and getting a HW30S or HW50S.
Back in 2012/2014, I was able to get most of my 95's from discount stores for less than $100.

PS: Definitively use a spring compressor when working on a Hatsan, my 135 always gave me the impression my life could suddenly end with any mistake while the spring was under compression.
I agree it’s a great rifle however from my personal experience they aren’t all there cracked up to be. I have a friend who owns a ton of upper end springers and although I can appreciate them and drool over their finish they don’t impress me like I thought they would or I would of went that direction.

Price dont matter if you or it cant shoot well.. hw, gamo, hatsan ect.. im satisfied with mine at all there price ranges . Now the hw/r9 pricing to me ihas got a bit not worth what you get . Like pa got the r9 at $560 ? No , no way. It was ok when a hw95 standard with fixed sights was 350$ and a lexus with fancy stock and globe/ insert sights at 400. But now lexus at 560 no.. then another 100 for a spring and seal quick.. ya, aint happing here today. The hw spring and seal was pretty short lived and not a high shot count to bust it.

For the gamo 4 years of 0 maintenance and just resently needs a seal. And it gets shot 5x more / real high shot count . That was sub 250$.

The hatsan 95 needed took down cleaned and the seal was nicked pretty good from hatsan new. Buffed out the nicks best i could cleaned and lubed proper seems fine after that got straighten out..

Anyway theres good cheaper guns to get that hit the bulls as good as higher end like the hw . And less maintenance or tinkering around to keep it shooting as well. Then im not a german gate snob either..lol..😇

Hey TC724,
Not knocking the Hatsan 95 ... after all, over a two year period I bought 12 of them for a reason ;) .
All things considered, de-tune it a bit and improve the shot cycle about 25/50%.
Oh I hear ya! I am honestly pretty content with everything for now, I always appreciate opinions though! That’s what the site is for

UPDATE: I took the rifle out a couple more times and disaster struck for me. First few shots wouldn’t hit the target so I checked zero and it had moved…Mind you I’m using the fiber optic sights, and yes I was doing a very repeatable hold. I adjusted and it was fine for a while but wouldn’t group like it was. I slapped on the scope and did okay but not enough for me to keep it. I am going to return the gun unfortunately because I loved the look and feel but it is what it is. I’ve been through too many “try to fix it” guns in the past so I’ll just have to try again on something else.

Id clean the barrel.. hard brass brushing with good solvent then patch.. ive had tough build up in rifling that can deform the pellet and cause poor shots. My 2 hatsans were filthy.. .. also if like my hatsan 25 pistol the grub screw that holds the front sight to the muzzle could loosen and slightly shift as you shoot. A fraction of a mm at the barrel can equal a lot down range.. next thing was on my 95 was trigger guard screw can do the same. A spot of blue loctite and tighten firm let set 12-24 hrs to set the loctite proper. The forarm screw i had no issue with but that main trigger guard one i have.

Then a gun can go through a spell durring break in . I would not give up too fast.. a springer is like Rome.. wasn't built in one day.. that 500 or so shot break in period is a face value not a factual real one..lol.

These air guns ,lol, there tinker toys . I dont recall having one that did not need some massaging as it goes along or a tweek here or there..

Another thing on both hatsans was the leade hole was sharp . No beveled edge . Loading a pellet not the best but easy to fix with a #2 pencle and 400 grit paper if it stops raining ill get a picture of this to view on what was done .. i think it helped ...but.... Everyone got a thing ...

Quick 3 steps.. this is the .22 ,95...

1- Shape the eraser 2- put small square of sandpaper/emery under shaped eraser and spin it like hand lapping a brigg's valve seat.. 3- finished bevel.
The hole was cut straight and sharp (may as well call it unfinished) and i could tell it was scaring the pellet head when putting it in , now with that sharp edge rrmoved and a slight bevel pellets load nice without that risk of head damage ..

If the gun shot good once, I can again ... U just gotta find the issue.

Then again, these are the kind of things that can happen with all airguns, Hatsans' are just harder to work on because they're not made exceedingly well in the first place. That's why they cost $160 with a Turkish Walnut stock.

Hatsan screws are not made out of better quality steel and tend to get deformed easily with standard screwdrivers. If you don't already have a set, get yourself a good set of hollow ground driver bits and maybe get a few spare screws from Hatsan since it never hurts to have some, whether Hatsan or any other brand out there.
Any number of brands out there. I have a set made by Chapman I got after wrecking a few myself. The set might look small but it's had every size I've needed so far to work on all my guns:

Ya, on the barrel pivot bolt with the crown style head i had to use a small round file to cut the notch in the better spot for the small set/lock down screw to fit in place . The factory job on that looked more rat chewed then machined.lol.. none of the notches were uniform or evenly spaced so that can be your own custom job .. but spiral's point of "the gun shot good once, it can again ... U just gotta find the issue." Is pretty reasonable .

Guys I did figure out the issue, well I didn’t figure it out but fixed it by accident. I checked all screws and cleaned the gun and put it all back together and it’s been shooting fine since. I now have 350 pellets through it and it’s still doing good. I’m going to chrono again at 500 pellets and see if my velocity has changed any and I’d my spread gets any better.

Good deal .. i got mine out this morning and thought of your thread and wanted to check back on any progress..
I appreciate it. I did discover that a great deal of pellets I was just grabbing from the tin were bent skirts so that’s my first rookie mistake. Also discovered the rear fiber optic sight seems to be slipping possibly and not holding its zero (never had that happen before). Either way the guns accuracy is amazing out to 35y. I’m going to slap an air max scope on it after I complete the break in and see what it can really do. I’ll re chrono it today to see if the velocity shifted yet.
