Hatsan jet 1 .22 Accuracy issues and modifications.

I've had my Jet 1 for about a week now and I really like everything about it...except the accuracy. I can't get it to group to save my life. I might have 2 good shots in a row then 2 flyers in complete different directions. There isn't anywhere on this gun to add a bipod so I modified a barrel band so I could add a foregrip or bipod. Also slapped a 3-9x40 scope on. I had a red dot on before. I also cleaned the barrel last night so hopefully when I go out and shoot this morning I can get some decent groups.

Is anyone else having these issues? Any solutions? I've seen reviews online of it shooting good so is there a chance I just got a lemon?

If that square outer barrel cover is attached to the barrel, and the square outer barrel cover is touching the pressure tube, by you installing a rest underneath of it, that’s what’s causing the problem.

I could be wrong, just going off of some of their earlier designs

I was having accuracy prior to installing the rest. Cleaning the barrel helped a little. It also seems to like heavier pellets.

Same inaccuracies without the moderator? Did you look at the crown, or push a pellet through the barrel yet?

Not sure about this one but many Hatsans seem to like H&N pellets. H&N Hunters would be the first one I try.

I will test it tomorrow morning without the moderator. Not sure what what to look at on the crown or what you mean by pushing a pellet through. Sorry I'm pretty new to airguns.

Unfortunately it's not adjustable. I've tried 15gr-21gr pellets. My best results so far came from the Gamo TS-22(21.75gr) and Baracuda hunter extreme(18.52gr).

The 18.52gr hunter extremes did preform better. Still had a little random flyer but definitely better than all the lighter pellets.

I'm thinking of picking up a Jet myself and leaning toward a 22 given the velocities/ similar power levels compared to 25.

OK, air guns are great but air guns that can't hit the same spot are crap. Manufactures really should have a vid of the gun that they want us to buy for hundreds or thousands of dollars with the right ammo that performs with the best groups. It's either that or they are saying to buy this cool looking turd that we put together and figure it out on your own.

OK, air guns are great but air guns that can't hit the same spot are crap. It's not supposed to be a match grade pistol. Sometimes sufficient accuracy is sufficient for the job. I don't think a lot of people buy Hatsans thinking they are going to rule competition shooting with it. With an air pistol of this size the important questions are "does it hit the target?" and "does it hit hard?"

Just my opinion. I've owned a couple Hatsans, still own a Hydra in 25 that I love in spite of it's relatively poor accuracy. It does like H&N Hunters though. I've got a red dot with no magnification on it. Lightweight short carbine style rifle. I almost never miss, so it works well for the application I've assigned it.

Too bad they can't pack that much punch into a compact pistol still though!

I went with the .22 because here in Georgia on public you can't hunt small game with anything larger than a .22 and for large game it has to be over .30. So unfortunately a .25 wouldn't get much use outside of the yard.

Agreed, not looking for match grade but hitting pretty close to where you are aiming for consistently is mandatory, unless you are really on the squirrels side.

I've seen that looking on the Pyramyd Air state-by-state airgun hunting laws. A couple years ago I left New England, after spending about half my life expectancy there and starting a family. You can probably guess why we left (pure insanity). Now I'm mid-atlantic & fortunately near some family, but it's just another corrupt and dysfunctional state with mostly poor scenery and more than it's fair share of impoverished regions that don't appear to have much chance of ever bouncing back.

My wife is from tropical regions originally so she's pulling me south. I'm getting past the age where I'm obsessed with big mountains and winter sports, plus seeing how people were treated over the last couple years I can barely stomach it regardless.

We are thinking of taking a drive/vacation when the trees grow leaves and thought we should include northern GA at least as part of that trip. When you get your PMs going let me know what I should check out. My priorities are a healthy community, access to clean and local food, low crime, and lots of freedom.
