Hatsan Lightning - Day 1 review

@humdinger is correct. And yes, I do "salt" the Zeolite with the color changing silica beads. The ones I use are orange and turn green when moist - to me it looks like a dark brown, but whatever. ;) Just a teaspoon or so is fine. After checking the "gold" filter at the 7.5 hour run time, it was time to change out the Zeolite, at least for me and the two cylinder Tuxing. I'd recommend if living in humid climates to change out the Zeolite every five hours run time just to be safe - with the two cylinder Tuxing, AV or Hatsan compressors which are pretty fast. If you have a slower compressor like the AC, I would recommend every ten hours run time. No point in trying to bake and re-use, since you can get 3 pounds for $15 and it'll last you for years...

Got mine unpacked and set up finally. It had a broken bolt connection in the breather for the intake, but am sure I will get a new one under warranty. It pumped right up and held pressure at 4495 psi for 45 minutes. Cleaning a spot for it now and will start filiing bottles and guns this afternoon.

@CenterCut - I ordered one of the 80 dollar fully built filters based on all your experience. Its pretty humid in the south and don't want to take any chances. Thanks.

Well I spoke too soon.. thing won't even go over 2000 psi... just stutters and shuts down then resets itself. I checked the cutoff and its still 4495, so its not that. It sounds like its not getting enough power... I have it plugged into an extension cord, but right into the wall on a 20 amp line. Its not blowing the breaker so I don't think its that. When I release the air pressure it does smell a lot like compressor oil...I didn't overfill at all, and used Royal Purple... a little depressed and scared what the problem could be.
