Can someone tell me what threads are on the air output port on the aluminum filter? I want to install a male fill nipple to replace the fixed air line. Thanks.

It’s the standard 1/8” bspp used in pcp fittings. You can re use that dowdy washer.
how I was able to find out is I took a fitting off of my hand pump that I knew was all bspp thread, and it threaded right on there smoothly.

This is the area I was inquiring about in the other thread. Sorry. Can that aluminum block filter be rotated 90 degrees moving the output line toward the gold tower filter? Might keep things inside the case better without adding fittings.

Yes you can turn the aluminum block. It is bolted from the bottom, just loosen and turn. Make sure you clean the inside and the pressure valve on top with every oil change. I have attached a photo of what the inside looks like when you do not do routine maintenance.

New lightning owner so I'm sorry for the weird question. This is located inside the aluminum block? The parts in the pic?
Second question: Did you just loosen and remove the plumbing above it? Same with the gold filter? I'm dying to take a peak. So any disassembly instructions would set my mind at ease.

You cannot mix and match NPT threads with BSPP threads. I asked the same question awhile back, and I was told “you’re asking for trouble if you do”. Google it, and you will see. Read up on NPT, BSPP, and BSPT thread differences

To SOCALOLDMAN- are the nasty fittings shown and your description of maintenance from an actual Lightning compressor that you own?

During the break in procedure, my compressor failed to reach the max BAR twice. The pressure relief valve activated at 290 BAR. Anyone know the cause and fix? Also, the compressor seems very loud. Is that normal/common?

BSP vs NPT. ... BSPT equivalent is NPT and BSPP's equivalent is NPS. Never swapthreads if it is a high pressure application. NPT/NPS and BSP threads are notcompatible due to the differences in their thread forms, and not just the fact that most sizes have a different pitch.
