Hatsan Mod 95 Vortex

It arrived Monday as scheduled, It is still deep winter here in Maine so my shooting range is very limited, maybe 35 yards at best but..this thing is a serious weapon, I've zeroed it in with the open sights at 35 feet and then moved the targets out to the limit of my cleared area and I have zero drop at that distance and it hits water bottles and tears them open...consistently, which is something I could never get my Umarex Ruger Max Elite to do. Both guns are 22 cal. and I can say this, the Hatsan is far ahead of the Ruger. The weight of the gun is 7lbs 5 oz. and balanced to feel somewhat less than that. I will be using the provided scope but need to get a different mount, the provided rings don't allow me to set the scope far enough back on the receiver to get a clear, full reticle when I shoulder the rifle without leaning into it. I don't have a way to measure velocity but will say its more than the Ruger. The gun has a fairly heavy pull when cocking. I guess it's now a waiting game to see how long the gas piston survives, I contacted the seller before ordering and they told me any of these rifles built now are fitted with the updated piston...time will tell. The gun is everything I expected to be and more at this price point. I'll be sure to update if problems develop. Oh, and my gun is the QE barrel and the trigger is smooth with a very light pull out of the box.

Saddly the ram in mine did not last long. Its now flat..

The screw mod on the trigger makes it nicer. Iused a little blue on its threads cause it could vibrate and selfadjust

Thanks, I just ordered one similar, except it's attached with a full length base, 4 screws...I intend to remove the scope stop and set it back to the rear of the dovetail groves which should put me to the right distance to my eye, hopefully the long base and 4 screws will hold it in place, If not I'll exchange it for the one like you have pictured here. Thanks
On another note, have you experienced any problem with your gas piston in the carnivore? How long have you owned it?

Start doing your homework on air rifle rated scopes. The included ones have a nasty habit of failing somewhere in the first tin of pellets and like most comapnies, Hatsan includes one to make you think you got a good deal on the rifle. Last Hatsan I bought, the included scope was only a 4x32 and is in one of my parts boxes somewhere...lol.
Their gas rams can be hit or miss. Some fail rather quickly while others last years with no problems. The Quattro trigger, once you get used to the odd up and back way it pulls, isn't too bad. A very good friend I've never met described the best way to keep your pull repeatable is to set your finger on the trigger, slide it down until the outside of your finger is resting on the trigger guard and use it as your guide.
I've had my 95 QE .22 4+ years now with, knock on wood, no problems. Welcome to AGN :)

Yeah, not to be a Weihrauch snob, but I've tuned and shot up to 16 Hatsan 95's and 135's - they are very much a bargain - if you get a nice stock.
However, when you put some time tuning it w/trigger mods (new screws and springs) at a certain point they cannot be improved upon to reach the level of a Weihrauch. Just can't be done.

Once I tried a HW35E, I sold everything Hatsan. Maybe if I were a hunter, I'd need the extra power at the expense of a more precision shooter.

Again, this IMO

The end of the dovetail will not be sufficient to stop the scope mount from moving rearward. The mount will keep sliding and will get eaten by the steel dovetail.

Yes, I didn't expect the scope to be much, at the price point of the gun I look at like a bonus. Of my gas piston comes even close to the 4 year mark I'll be happy.

Ahhh, that's no good, I'll need to ship it back and get one like you have.

No they will not. You want m3 3mm. You can get them at any good hardware store. Home Depot has them in a Phillips head. You will have to cut them down to proper length and I turn the heads down smaller.
