Hatsan Sortie

They are all problematic. I understand wanting one they are really cool when they are working correctly. How mechanically minded are you? Perhaps a refurb would be a good idea. Generally something already went bad and a more trained employee took a look and fixed it. It's possible that a complete tear down and polish all the moving parts could make it more reliable. Personally I would wait for the technology to improve. Lots of semi autos came out last shots how. If I was a betting man I'd say it's a trend they will keep growing. It's very possible a pistol will come out in a year or two. I really want crosman to make a marauder pistol. I will get the marauder rifle when it's available. Looks solid. Good luck buddy.

Mine is a lot of fun in .22. I would not get one in 177 as the gun relies on muzzle discharge pressure to cycle.

If you're not mechanically inclined, I would pass. It'll likely require some type of attention at one point or another.

I did polish my action, and got a stronger gas piston from Hatsan (they improved the material quality) piston rides below the probe/bolt, and above the hammer in the receiver. It cocks the hammer. (old one broke) There is another piston in the shroud that cycles the probe/bolt. The rod it rides on kept bending, but I made some mods to run a moderator, which introduces a lot of backpressure, likely causing the rod to bend, so I made a new one from 304 ss

First hand experience, I own one in .177 and have modified it quite a bit and agree with Dallas that .22 is the goldilocks caliber. It doesn't jam, most common failure is to not chamber the next pellet, requiring manual cycling like a conventional repeater.

Keeping it lubed, tightened, as little back pressure as possible and it cycles great. Add an LDC and you've got some work ahead.
