Im in the same boat. what is considered a meaningful post? I want to contact a member selling stuff in the classifieds.

The 10 meaningful post threshold clearly isn't thwarting scammers on this site, its about time for something new...

Pretty much anything that contributes to a conversation. Remember, both replying to posts and creating posts count towards your 10 messages. Don't forget you have to wait 10 days on top of this.

This is the reason for ten post. I wish it was a lot more or a better way to keep scammers out.

Well I have joined the ranks of those who have been scammed. I text a person that I thought I could trust. We agreed to a trade. What I got back was a rifle that had been stolen from brawler1588. I am in the process of getting his gun back to him. I will be out of the only air...

My take:
Your six posts to date only about not being able to PM aren’t going to get you closer to being able to.
The abilities to participate in the Classifieds and to PM members are privileges extended to participating, contributing members of this community. Guests and registered visitors are certainly most welcome, just not rewarded if they are not contributing.
If you are interested in the community, great, welcome. It’s a good community. If you are only interested in the Classifieds, there are other, open, airgun classifieds available on the web.

Come on guys, 10 meaningful posts is easy.
For example, you could introduce yourself and explain what kind of shooting you’re looking to get started with.
Just that start will bring you reply’s from members.
Then simply answer the replies you are getting.
Ask real questions not vague ones.
Example: I’m trying to decide what rifle to get, I’m going to be mostly target shooting and a little pesting.
So far I like the FX Crown and the Daystate RedWolf. Which one would you recommend, and why?
What caliber, and why?
Ten days later you are in, and the rule is easy enough to follow plus it’s fun to talk with like minded folks.
Without the rule it would be an endless cycle of scam attempts.
So bad that the classifieds would be ruined and useless.

A great way to keep scammers out of the classified, would be to have a membership fee along with the rules already in place. Membership could vote on the amount in a poll. Donate the fees to a charity of the membership choice.

10 posts and being a member a month is a no sale in my book. There's the forum rules and MY rules. Use your own judgement.
