Have you ever pre-ordered and prepaid for a gun and started to have doubts?

Especially if there are many negative remarks for said company on a public forum from many dissatisfied customers most certainly!

Depends if it's a no BS guaranteed sure thing winner type gun that somebody like Allen Z makes that could realistically take more than a year waiting for and not one from other makers with crappy workmanship.

I would personally trust 100% of my prepaid money on someone like Allen Z because at least I know he's always super busy working on everyones guns and never wastes time yapping on forums while paying customers wait (and read wondering when their guns are gonna be done).

I had a Fully paid Impact on pre order and found one on the classifieds and had to call and get a refund. Wasn’t a issue with the dealer.

I ain't never needed the newest thing bad enough to prepay for anything. Historically, they tend to be letdowns with reliability issues anyway. Cars, airguns, motorcycles, whatever.
If you don't have a warm fuzzy feeling, pull the plug if you can. Buy one later at a better price likely. I'm sure someone will prepay one, lose interest before it gets here, and sell it. Happens all the time. Lot easier and cheaper to back out now then be the guy losing money trying to sell one he isn't happy with.
If I ordered something expecting one thing, and was told I'd get one but it's different, I'd be out. Unless it seemed like an obvious upgrade. That's just me.

I change my mind so often, I couldn’t possibly prepay for anything. I really want a leshiy 2, but that’s this week. Last week it was a dreamline, the week before a brocock bantam. I’ll just wait till the fall when the leshiy is out, and if I still want it, and it’s in stock, I’ll pull the trigger then!

I second guess myself even when the item is in stock! I can’t imagine the torture I’d put myself through on a pre-order. I’ll probably do it someday and suffer terribly for it though. When will I ever learn?

I'm questioning one now. What keeps me on the hook is that if I'm disappointed in the gun I'm sure I can sell it for what I have into it. This is my first preorder and I dont think I'd do it again. Lesson learned.

I'm really bad about that. I can play in my mind that it's gonna be great but if time draws on I began to doubt. Was all set the enter the PCP world and an bought a TalonSS. Vendor didn't say at the time but it was on backorder. For some reason I had my heart set on a blue one. I wait and wait and get a bit disgruntled and then eventually call in to cancel the order saying that I'd reorder once the gun came in. I wound up not getting a TalonSS and fortunately was able to return the hand-pump I bought (from a different vendor even though it had been a few months which was right decent of them, I must say).
The waiting for sure frustrated me but it also allowed for the self-made fantasy of "ooh! and i can do this with it! and this with it! it's gonna be great!"

I ordered a bunch of things from a major supplier, including a dirt-common in-stock gun, and one after another accessory etc. seemed to be out of stock and then in stock ... but the order didn't appear to be put aside to be filled as a priority when the stock came in. Meanwhile the in-stock gun didn't ship. It took so long they had to reauthorize my credit card for the purchase. I wasn't happy. But the company has such a sterling reputation and customer service was so professional and polite that I am just going to write this off as maybe a one-time thing.
