Having problems with a new Hatsan AT44-10 QE Long... Need help please.

So I was updating my super long post when I accidentally deleted it. However, for those of you that read it and offered assistance, here's what I found out... I got a call back from someone at Hatsan who was perplexed himself. We went through a bunch of things that could have caused the problems and it turned out to be the result of two things... Whoever had the gun before me had changed the placement of the baffles in the moderator. The aluminum baffles were backward and spaced with the plastic baffles between them which isn't how they are from the factory. Doesn't seem like much but after I put them back to stock, my groups became more consistent. Still not small groups, but more consistent for sure. I then switched from the 25 grain JSB pellets to the 33grain JSB pellets and my groups shrank drastically. This is what I expected from an AT44 10 gun. I'm now getting 9 shot groups that are easily less than an inch. Another thing that changed for the better with the heavier pellets is that I'm getting a lot more shots per fill and the drop in pressure is slower than with the lighter pellets. Meaning I filled the gun to 200bar, shot 18 shots and the cylinder is still at 180 bar. When I shot the other day and had the terrible results, I only got about 23 shots from full fill until the gun was in the yellow on the manometer, which is about 100bar. I don't know why this is but the heavier pellets are better all the way around and the gun is shooting as advertised. Thank you to everyone that reached out. I'm glad I got it figured out! Thank you! Kevin

sorry i dont have better info. MY friend IMOLD, had issues right from the get go with a HATSAN refirb he sent it back, bad barrel ..unfortunately ,it appears HATSAN refirb method is to make the rig look nice ,,not so much the shooting end ,gotta remember most of theese rifles have had issues that customers refused to accept.. only a lucky few get the demo models,, send it in have em make it right,,let HATSAN bear the burden,i hear they do right by there customers and there mechanics know theese rigs in and out,,, good luck ,,HYNZIE

Most of us have had a similar problem but with different guns. We know the frustration level and feeling like maybe you got a bad one but looking at your history and attention to detail you more than likely can find the culprit or culprits. Slow down take the gun out of the stock and examine. You know the drill, you've done it before. Get a schematic study it and work through each item. Clean retest re examine and slow but sure you will find the rascal and can teach us what you find. Similar problems can appear in PB's and Air guns. Pressure points, binding, clipping, bent barrel, scope, rings and on and on. Counting on you and watching for a report. Best Nick

I am reading this and sure enough I bought a refurb BT-65 and it was horrible grouping .
I checked it and the barrel near crown was gouged by tooling marks Hatsan did send a new barrel
Then I shot it and bolt broke I took it apart to see what broke and Hatsan said i voided warranty
I had to buy then part to fix it ,,
I then put in a regulator and got rid of QE and put a moderator
Even the magizines distorted pellets I had to open holes up
Horrible machine work I guess because low end gun
Shot count very low as well
Valving of gun poor design has holes in 360 degrees while would be better just 1 matched hole for transfer port
pellet probe blocks transfer port
I learned this , If you buy a New quality gun it is great out of box just adjust to what you like
When you buy a gun like this
You have to clean and polish things , do tuning and mods and put in a regulator and get gun quiet
The bottom line yes you can get gun perfect addressing one thing at a time
however in end it is a 10.5 pound gun
Next time just better to get a quality gun
