Hawke 1 x 30 Vantage RD opinions

I just got my new Crosman 2240XL with the Crosman red dot sight. The gun does great, trigger needs some work though it's uncomfortably stiff. I'll be getting the adjustable seer that was recommended by biohazardman in another post, but first I need a good sight. The Crosman one is what I expected for 15 bucks, it's kind of like looking into a laser pointer. I've got my eye on these Hawke red dot sights. Looks like they come in a few different sizes from 1x20 to 1x30 and they will fit right on the 3/8 dovetail without an adapter. It costs almost as much as the gun itself but I'm looking for quality since I intend to have it for a while. My questions are how do they do, whats the best size for this gun? Please share your thoughts.

I have a 1x20 Hawke that I have tried on my P-rod. 1x30 was out of stock so I was worried the 1x20 wouldn't be tall enough to avoid obstruction from the magazine.

It just cleared but unfortunately my younger son & I have astigmatism & don't care for it. My older son likes it but doesn't shoot often enough to leave it on the P-rod.

I believe the 2240 is single shot so that concern likely doesn't apply.

If you're interested I could see if I still have it. I just can't imagine using it at this point.

Thanks for the the feedback gentlemen. Scouty, yes I'm interested. Let me know if you still have it.

I just sent you a PM but thought I'd post here.

I found the Hawke but forgot that the retention nut has some interior galling. It appears all of the damage is to the interior threads of the retention nut and none to the male threaded through bolt.

I will contact Hawke about a replacement.

I hope you didn't hold off on ordering one based on my saying I had one available. I knew about this but completely forgot about it.

I'm sure glad the sight is back up. Scouty thanks again for the sight and the incredibly fast shipping (less than 24hrs!) It is exactly what I was looking for: compact accurate and descent quality. I took the home made grips off my old 1377, ground out the trigger for comfort, deburred and smoothed all the contact points in the trigger mechanism, installed a lighter spring and ground the bolt knob to a teardrop. I've been having a blast with this gun literally :)
