Hawke Airmax Compact-Anyone have one?

I recently purchased a Hawke Airmax Compact 6-24X50. I’ve mounted it to my Air Arms TX200. I’ve not had time to get it sighted in but it met two very important needs for this application. It is short enough to not extend over the loading port of the rifle and it has a lighted reticle. Both, I felt, we’re requirements to meet my needs for this gun.

Im not too sure I will be completely happy with the reticle but it is better than what I replaced (Aztec Emerald 5.5-25X50) which was physically too long and did not have a lighted reticle. So any short comings, for me, in the reticle will be forgiven by the fact that at least I will be able to see it in the dimly lit area where I shoot.

I couldn't resist. I bought a 6-24X50 and mounted it on my new Impact using Burris Tactical Signature rings set at minus 15 MOA. I like the compact size and I like the reticle. Some of you don't like Hawke scopes for various reasons, but I like their reticles better than most other brands, even the high end stuff. I found that the glass is pretty clear too.

I've been curious about the 6-24x50 to know how it ranges for FT. How would you guys compare the glass to other scopes?

Just took mine out to the range this morning. I'm an FT shooter and IMO, I would not use this scope for that purpose. I think there are better options that are more accurate for ranging than this one. It's ok for general shooting, though. What I've been using for FT for years is a Hawke Sidewinder 30 with the 20X 1/2 mildot reticle. It has served me well.

I'm interested in a Hawke Airmax Compact 6-24X50 scope because of it's size and weight. Have any of you gotten one of these and what is your evaluation of it? Thanks.

I'm about to pull the trigger on my second Hawke Airmax Compact, the 6-24x50 for my new Impact Mk2... I am just trying to sort out whether I need the FX No Limit rings for 50 and 100 yard shooting with the Airmax... I like my first one a lot... I've been looking at others, I want something compact, I have a 14.75" inch long scope (only scope I had extra here) on it now, looks terrible... I'd love to hear what other compact x-24,25 power scopes are out there... Before I spend my money,..

Just my .02

Thanks for the confirmation! I'm currently using a Hawke Airmax 30 SF 6-24x50 on both of my FT rigs for hunter field target. It ranges well, but I'm still on the lookout for the perfect scope!

The Airmax (long version) is ok. If you check the FT match reports and see what equipment the top shooters are using, it seems the Sightron SIII is the most popular with the Nikko Stirling (edited) coming in second.. My recommendation is that if you are serious about competing in any shooting sport, buy the best scope you can afford. The one you have should work ok as long as you are confident in it's ranging capabilty, especially between 45-55 yards.

Here's a list of what scopes were used in the recent World competition:

This is a list of PCP Scope Manufacturers

Sightron. 83

Nikko Stirling. 81

March. 56

Leupold. 26

? To be determined 24

Delta. 21

Schmidt & Bender. 19

Kahles. 15

Lynx. 2

Hawke. 2

I’m drawn to the Airmax Compact as well for my Impact and/or Wildcat. It seems like a good match for bullpups due to reduced length and more importantly, shorter eye relief. Airgun scopes don’t need to have long eye relief because they don’t recoil like a center fire rifle. The shorter eye relief (3” vs typ. 4”) will allow me to mount the scope at a reasonable spot on the pic rail.

Now all I have to decide is if I want the 4-16x44 or 6-24x50! Leaning toward the 4-16 since I mostly use my guns for pesting, but having the option to zoom in 24x on a sparrow at 100 yards away might be nice.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Hawke Airmax 30 Compact SF, 6-24X50 for my new Impact Mk2, there are many things I like about it, and I don't see me shooting in a "World Competition"...

BTW: I've been stacking pellet on pellet all morning with a cheap 80.00 CenterPoint scope, it's all I have extra to mount on my FX while I wait for the Hawke...

I also ordered a set of FX No Limit Rings, I figure I can maximize the elevation adjustment range that way, plus use genuine FX parts... Win win...
