heads up on button cell batteries

i never thought much about these, theyre cheap, keep a few packs onhand for various things, and they wind up (for me) in the bottom of a drawer full of manuals and paperwork and other 'burnable' material .. today i needed a couple for a lazer that had gone dead and noted that some had gone bad, swelled, and obviously generated some heat when they ruptured, note the paper backing is brown .. maybe not likely, but i feel like i dodged a bullet there lol ... could have got ugly .. so if you got a pack of these nestled in with some tinder you may want to re-think it, especially if theyve been in there a year or two

Package says 2011 with an ED of 2 years. Those batteries are 13 years old
Better to rotate old ones out after a couple years before they go bad like you said.
Goes for all batteries not just button cells.

I can ALWAYS count on Duracell batteries to ruin whatever they are in unless you only install them when needed. Junk.

I had to take classes on these batteries ( lithium) when I worked at the local transfer statation,and I can tell you they are extremely dangerous to the environment and as fire hazards.
Dont dump into the trash and forget, try to get them to a recycling center.

Had good results with Sony and Panasonic, I stay clear of the cheap crap.

Meh, we use them all over the place where I work, rarely do we see one even bulge and never had a fire or equipment destruction from one.

Large batteries, pouches and packs are closely monitored for voltage dropps, allowing for removal before they cause problems.
