Hello from Horseshoe Bend, AR and Invite for May

My name is Eric, I’m new here and also new to airguns, so be gentle.

My background is tool and die that indirectly led to creating and operating Lakeside Machine from 1997-2013. Lakeside Machine built the belt fed rimfire line of firearms. Well, I retired in 2012 and now discovered airguns a year or so ago. The CNC machines were sold off and all that is left are my manual machines to keep the skills up and play around. So far I’m enjoying it immensely. It’s a learning curve to transition from rimfires to airguns I must say.

Anyaway, last year the 2018 GTA Fun Shoot and airgun Show was held at the old Lakeside Machine facility in Horseshoe Bend, AR. The manufacturing facility was repurposed into an Expo Center that can host events such as that. The adjoining property had the live fire shoot. For a first time event at the AR location, it went very well and everyone had a great time. 2019 was booked soon after last years shoot/Show ended.

For this coming May 17-19, this GTA shoot/show has much more to offer. The main line was moved to accommodate a covered firing line to have many more shooting positions. This firing line has ranges out to 325 yards for the big bore guys. We are working with our local Fire Department for tank refills at the fire station. There is a kids shooting gallery with sponsorship by Daisy of Arkansas for our upcoming airgunners. A “Know Your Limits” competition for springers or pcp guns. A new wooded walk trail is currently being made for 4 airgun categories of competition and fun. The trail is designed to mimic actual hunting scenarios but with scoring. One side of the trail is for less than 20pfe and the other side is open class power. The Expo building has a buy/sell/trade vendor set up for those who may like to shop. This gives the option of a “try it before you buy it” on items you are interested in. This year also is featuring a night shoot. Yes, night shooting. Last year, after the show several shooters stayed until dark at the line. It was much cooler and no wind. That sparked the idea of shooting at night. It will begin at 6pm and go till 9 or so. Friday and Saturday will feature the night shoot. Fellas, there is so much going on at this event I can’t list it all. I do invite any and all to check this one out.

I invite you to go to the GTA site in the announcement forum and see the old 2018 show/shoot highlights and then check out the 2019 Gene Curtis Fun Shoot details for this May. There have been discounted rate lodging secured in town for those who wish to indulge in the entire weekend. Crown Point Resort is top notch with pool, hot tub, fitness center, restaurant-bar, and lake side view lodging all for cheap!

If any of you are interested, I’ll be glad to answer questions here make contact with me directly, or go to the GTA site for active posts on many details of this event. The time is getting close and rooms are filling up in the area. If you are needing a spot on the line, display space for buy/sell/trade....etc let me know.

I'm interested in more information on the vendor side of the weekend. As far as, do I need to bring my own tables? Are there tables for rent? Is there a vendor fee? Is the vendor area open all three days? Can a vendor choose to only be there certain days? Do you have a vendor application? Is the area where the vendors are located inside a building?

Thanks.

8foot tables are provided, 25.00 for all three days. Friday set up at 7am, open to the public at 9am to 3pm. Saturday 9-3 and Sunday 9-2pm.

We are flexible for what days you are able to display but obviously would like to see full attendance at the three day event. No application, just have airgun or related items on display and prepay to guarantee your spot in the show. The building is a wide open floor plan and is air conditioned. No specific area needed inside unless you require power or wish to be next to a fellow buddy vendor.

Here is a couple of short drone videos filmed in March of this year. It looks dead and brown for that time, but it is all nice a green right now. These vids will hopefully give an idea of the layout of the size of the Expo in relation to the live fire area and walking trail. There will be two entrances to the show. One at 1213 Industrial Street that leads to the Expo building and another just down the road which is for parking and driving up to the firing line. The second entrance is for those who do not wish to walk across the bridge (behind the Expo) and across the dam to the firing line.
