Help. Can't fill PCP with handpump

The PCP I am trying to fill came empty and a a probe.

I ONLY have a hand-pump. I will not get any fill tanks or compressors, not at least now. Please keep the thread, not about buying a compressor because there are plenty of those already.

- I've tested the pump by supplied screw-on plug. When I plug the tip, the pump gauge goes up to 3000 psi.

- I COCKED the gun. Put the fill probe in. And when I pump the air, i hear and feel the air leaking from where the probe meets the fill hole.

Would anyone know what the issue is?

Did you put the o-rings on the fill probe? Sometimes they put them in the bag, and not on the probe.

Don't cock the gun while you are filling it. It could go off and injure you or someone around you or damage the valve. If the pump will build pressure without the probe in it then make sure the o rings on the probe are good, maybe just replace them even if you cant see damage. Use a little silicone grease, and try again. Just know that filling any pcp from 0 with a hand pump is going to take some time and a lot of pumps.

Thank you I did not know that. I put the orings in, and it seems to work.

Huh? I was told to cock the gun when filling so the valve is sealed.. Also, would you know about how many pumps would make the needle to start to move? Trying to watch a crying baby and pump at the same time, HAHA

U have to cock it to get the hammer off the valve otherwise it will stay open

Cocking a PCP when filling from Empty is NORMAL...
This takes the Hammer preload tension off of the main-valve...
But use caution.... it is Cocked!!!!

From what I've heard around 100+ pumps to get to 3000psi so, guessing you should see that needle move at around 10 pumps or so on a tank with 1000+psi already in it. You're starting at zero so, 20-30 pumps and you should see some change.

This is a bit weird.. I pumped 100 times, the needle is still at zero. Nooooooo

I can feel the air coming out of the barrel for some reason. I have tried cocked and uncocked.

Check all joints are tight and sealed....Also the moisture Bleed-off screw is Tight.

U can try to double load put 2 pellets in the barrel and keep it point in a safe direction sometimes that trick works

Well short of a Tank or HPA Compressor...
You are lacking volume to push the valve closed...
You might be able to use a standard compressor!!!
Enough volume@125psi may just close the valve!!!

Also try Dry firing Once... to see if it will seat the valve!!

What brand and model is the gun? Someone may no of this issue on your particular gun.

I had to pump super fast to get my beeman 1358 to fill the first time.

You need a first hard hit of air with a squba tank to make the valve to close.

I have no access to scuba or air compressor. The gun is cocked, but air is still escaping from the muzzle end of the barrel. Does anyone have any idea how I can close the valve? Would plugging the barrel with something work?
