Help finding .22 695 fps air rifle

Illinois resident here-Caliber larger than .177 but under 700 fps is okay. Over 700 fps it's considered a firearm here..177 can be any fps,no restrictions.
I would love to know who you talked to about this because bass pro shop directed me to state police and they say 177 can not go above 700 or its a fire arm I hope your right and love to know the real truth

so I just reread what you said.. you are in Illinois USA? and airguns over say 700 fps are considered firearms?? I can't wrap my head around that.. I still thought Illinois was part of the USA.. 🤔🤔🤔😥
we have been running out of freedom for awhile now.. didn't think we were that far gone..

Yeah it makes sense doesn’t it ?? I mean that keeps everyone safe right? Hardly anyone gets shot in any city in Illinois 😂😂😂😂😂

OP seeing it is a completely moronic concentration on just speed I would get a 25 cal break barrel. That should keep you below 700 fps and deliver a bit of energy. Hmmm…a good use for a 25 break barrel after all 🤔

Might look for a BSA Lightning in .22 mine does just under 14ftlbs and is very accurate out to 40 yds have killed a ton of squirrels with it, light and can carry all day.

PUBLIC SAFETY
(430 ILCS 65/) Firearm Owners Identification Card Act.

1) any pneumatic gun, spring gun, paint ball gun, or
B-B gun which expels a single globular projectile not exceeding .18 inch in diameter or which has a maximum muzzle velocity of less than 700 feet per second;

There is an ‘or” so in my opinion 177 can be any velocity

Thanks for the reply it helps and yes anything that is 700 fps or higher by manufacturers specs is considered a firearm now in Illinois
Get a xs60c from Mike Melick at flying dragon air rifles, tell him what you want the rifle to shoot and he will make it so! Manufacturer specs shood be in the 500fps range, i had him run mine around 700, great squirrel gun and very accurate. $150 to your door.

Do you find any issues with using it in cold weather?

That's what I thought to check it out and if you can find any law enforcement that says I'm wrong and your right please let me know thanks

Fire arm identification card is called foid card in Illinois. I am looking for break barrel or co2 22 air rifle or between 600 to 695 for hunting squirrel and rabbit I'm just kinda lost looking through all the different types don't want a pump and most rifles I see are at least 1000 fps
1000 FFPS is tested with an ultra light pellet 5g. so if you take a nice 10.5 gr pellet it lowers the speed considerably , oh you said .22 so 15.5 gr or something similar .

Bass pro shop says state police notified them anything over .177 and anything over 700 fps is foid required I live in Peoria
Wouldn't be the first time ISP didn't know what they're talking about,LOL. Bass Pro/Cabelas are famous for not being up to date on gun laws and erring on the side of caution. Needless to say,the only thing air gun related I buy from them is pellets or CO2 cartridges.Pyramyd and AGD know what the law is in Illinois. I just got a .25 air rifle a few weeks ago, delivered to my house .FPS was under 700. If I put ,say,a .22 with FPS over 700,order gets cancelled. I can order any .177 regardless of fps.

If I were you and wanted something in writing, I would write a letter to the Assistant State Attorey and Public Defender of your area. Keep those responses. This is advice coming from a law enforcement officer for the last 19 years.

but it appears to be the manufacturer specification, and most of the in expensive guns they like to rate with the lead free pellets which are ultra light..
so another option if you are actually restricted to 177 would be to order it from Wes, whatever you need, Canadian specifications are 500 fps so that would work.. plus if you want to keep the law, you can get a chronograph and Wes will gladly tell you how to adjust it to keep it within the limit.. but this whole thing would be easier to do with a PCP, since they are easy to adjust..
spring guns are pretty much the way they are made..
hopefully you don't end up with a daisy red rider..

might take a long time to get a response, if they can be bothered to respond..😞

also I know that you wanted spring gun, but I've read that some of the guns, . just for instance the pp750 is easy to fill with a hand pump and no compressor is necessary, I would still get a compressor because even a bicycle pump and I'd be done in for the day.. but the pp750 is the same size tank as the notos and it gets over 50 regulated shots @500 fps.. Wes is carrying quite a few guns from pyramid and they set to Canadian specifications.. so hopefully you have options.. I was very surprised that Wes is selling avenger rifles since they are easily tuned to whatever you want..
but like was said by someone else.. the hw50 seems like it's what you want.. the post had a picture of the gun and squirrel on the tailgate..
