Help finding .22 695 fps air rifle

Sure makes me appreciate living in Ohio all the more! Sadly it may be the fate for all of us if a certain Party gets their way in the future.
although it doesn't seem to matter for a lot of things which party.. it seems like most are self serving instead of public servants..
it's that way here in Oregon.. used to be so much freedom here.. now not much better than California if that.. but at least for the moment they are not regulating out BB and pellet guns

I'd get a 177. My one 177 is a P35 which needed some adjustments when I got it but shoots great now. About 900 fps with 10.6 grain H&N or 10.3 grain JSB pellets. It's taken 6 squirrels for me so far. Seems to work fine on brain or body shots. I've killed 20 with my 22s and 20 with my 25s and I think they kill a little quicker but I think a 177 works fine when you put the pellet in the right spot. I would get a PCP because I can shoot them a lot better. Also if you tune a 22 or 25 down to this velocity I don't think it would work noticably better and it would have a worse trajectory making hits more difficult.

I don't see how you meet the fps limit in the law with a bigger caliber. If the gun is powerful enough for squirrel hunting the manufacturer is almost certainly quoting a velocity over 700 fps. It may not really go that fast but it appears that does not matter. If it will do 800 fps with a non lead very light pellet and the manufacturer quoted that velocity in it's literature it would apparently be considered a firearm. Benjamin says my Prod will shoot at 800 fps. The only way it will do that with the stock tune is with a super light pellet unsuitable in my opinion for hunting. I could make it shoot less than 700 fps, the stock tune does that with a 14.3 grain Crosman pellet, but I don't think that fulfills the legal requirement.

You might consider a Crosman 362. It’s real accurate with the peep sight but you can upgrade to a steel breech and scope if you desire. Great all around value in terms of power, accuracy, weight, and compact size.

Augie75 - I'm a victim of IL too, so I feel your pain.
You can kill squirrels just fine with .177, it's all about shot placement. If you want to go with a springer, a Diana 48 .177 will shoot about 20fpe. But a springer at that power is kind of a handful to shoot, and a bit heavy in the field. Even though it shoots with less muzzle energy, a Diana 34 which shoots closer to 15fpe is an excellent choice.
If you decide you just "must" have that 20fpe power, I would recommend a PCP. It will be lighter and easier to shoot accurately than a springer. If you can find a .177 Benjamin Discovery or Maximus, they are easy to fill with a hand pump because a low fill pressure is required. (I PCP pump looks just like a bicycle pump, but it can produce higher air pressure.)
I would not recommend a CO2 gun for squirrel hunting in Illinois. CO2 pressure is highly temperature dependent, so your pellets will change speeds as the gun warms up. (But they are awesome for indoor practice!!)
You didn't really elaborate on why you don't have an FOID (and you shouldn't feel any need to explain to us). Let me just say that if it is because of any past legal infractions, you should really check to see if you can have an airgun at all, or whether having a "weapon" would be held against you. I know it's pitiful to have to think like that, but it is what it is...

I know I’m not supposed to but can’t stop myself. Actually the entire country is nearly a police state or banana republic right now. Fearing it will only get worse.
if that's not bad enough just see how far the money goes.. when I was just a kid $20 was a lot of money and it was worth something.. now you can't even get gas or groceries with $100.. supposedly raising the interest rates are going to fix it but what it seems like it is making it worse.. you mentioned banana Republic.. just wait at the current rate our money will be worthless like Venezuela.. yes I'm American and no where to go and well those of us on SS and disability find out every month what we can't afford, be it food, medicine, rent..
it just keeps going slowly and likely most Americans don't realize it, like a frog in water slowly warmed until cooking.. I really hope someone turns out great country around and actually makes things better for the everyday people..
life is hard but it could be worse..

There’s also a few states still left in the 19th century - but I shan’t name them😳.
please tell.. especially if you know of any back in the 18 th century.. I've been trying to get medical care for a problem for over a month and between doctors and insurance it's impossible.. so might as well go back to the old days when people were honest.. not much to miss here.

always wanted a Sheridan silver streak.. 20 caliber.. do they still make them?
Not made anymore. You can buy used but price is high. Crossman 362 22 cal would be cheaper. However the Crossman 140 and 1400 22 cal are no longer made but cheaper than the Sheridan. For the Crossman 140 and 1400, Sheridan and any vintage air guns, try EBAY, Gunbroker, American Airguns Classified or Baker Airguns (he has several resealed Sheridans and Crossmans). I have bought from Gunbroker (cheap but leaked even though Seller said it did not) and several from Baker Airguns. I like Baker Airguns cause he reseals them but he is a little expensive. With the others, buyers luck.

Sorry you’re stuck in the insurance nightmare.

However, I was thinking about a time when backward thinking was common.

I lived in New York where they have just as stupid laws there and they just made more that are completely unconstitutional. Technically, they aren't laws. They're executive orders, which is an abuse of power. Only the legislative branch can make actual laws. I left there and moved to a free state. I highly recommend it.
yes but what is a free state? I moved 20 years ago from California to Oregon.. now Oregon is not much different than California.. at least so far air guns are not regulated here.. yet.. hopefully never.. I don't think I got enough energy to make another move

Typical, people vote for crap that turns a state to crap and then move but still vote for the same crap and turns that new state that they live in to crap..
